Your Move Chris Stonock: deposit return

It’s not actually - of course I didn’t have written record of the conversation about the sofa at the time I moved in, but the only thing that was out of order in my post was the “con artists?” in the title.
Naturally, I was angry when I wrote this post that this was being dragged out and that I still haven't got the balance of the deposit back, in spite of looking after the property as if it were my own. But even then, I was asking a genuine question, for which I got satisfactory answers, and have retracted the out-of-order part of the post.
So thank you for your comment, but I disagree.
As you have admitted you were out of order, what is there for you to disagree about?I am a LandLord,(under review) so there!:p0 -
What about you dragging out the process of the LL getting vacant possession of the property to be able to clean / renovate / get new tenants?
The LA/LL are being generous in allowing you to resolve the issues after your tenancy has ended - they could actually pay a contractor to resolve more quickly and bill you for it through your deposit.
Fair enough. But I'm on holiday so I'm moving as quickly as I can. If the need to remove the sofa had been communicated along with the rest of the cleaning, I would have got it organised the same day as receiving the invoice, as I did with the cleaner
They haven't yet got a new tenant signed, so I'm not holding anything up. And why would I wilfully do so? All I want is to get it all done and dusted and the balance of the deposit back.
It is kind of them to show the flexibility, yes; if they had an incoming tenant with a move in date, I would of course try to find a quicker solution while I'm away.
I don't think I'm being unreasonable in that respect, but correct me if I'm wrong.0 -

Ok, that's a blatant misrepresentation of facts. I said I was out of order to put "con artists?" in the title. You were talking about the "story", as you called it, and that's what I disagreed with.
I'm not sure why you're trying to discredit me really. I asked a question, I've got a satisfactory answer from others and also indeed from YMCS. I'll sort it out accordingly as efficiently and as soon as I can, as I have done with everything else regarding this tenancy.0 -

As you offer this as an excuse, I can only presume that the landlord insisted that you go on holiday at the same time as you moved out, rather than that being entirely your decision. It is very unreasonable of them. You would probably have been within your rights to refuse.0 -
As I wrote, just to remind you.
The facts from Chris, which you now agree with, are somewhat different to your story.
This is all very entertaining. They're not different to my "story". I wasn't presenting a story, and I was asking for an answer to a genuine question.
But seeing as how we're into building straw men this morning, "you are a landlord, so there"... :rotfl:0 -

You still don't get it, the same day as receiving the invoice would still have been too late, the sofa should have been removed during your tenancy. Any later than that is a gift to you from the LL / LA.0 -

I assume that this is intended to be "ironic", but I don't get it. Sorry.
And, by the way, no, I've had this break booked for three months after a fairly stressful year of running a business and getting my first foot on the property ladder. I thank you for your concern!0 -

Thank you for clarifying Saajan. This is really the answer I was looking for to my initial question - of course I "don't get it", that's why I asked the question. I appreciate your help.0 -
Perhaps you could edit the title of of your thread if you accept that they aren't con artists. That would be fairEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
