In the past hour the sun has vanished and its become very dark outside no wind hardly at all and although it looks like a storm will break its still very warm. The sky is a dark yellow at the moment i'm gladthe boys are all in from school
Take care everyone and look out for your neighbours if you can
JackieO xx
That's exactly what it was like here from about 2pm for a couple of hours. The sky was like a yellowy grey colour and then it got really foggy. It was weird as it was really still and quiet , with no wind at all. Whereas this morning it was just really dark....like night time.0 -
Home!
Left Glasgow in bright sunshine, blue skies and a warm breeze at 4.30p.m. Just approaching Loch Lomond and the wind rose and the rain splattered. Not long after the storm began to make itself felt.
By the time I reached eight miles from home the rain was horizontal and cold. Got my lovely lady inside her house by holding her down and then I treated myself to a Chinese takeaway though I got soaked running the five yards to and from the car. I've left the car outside as it would have taken me too long to park, open the barn door, get the car in, close the barn door and get into the house.
The deaths in Ireland are dreadful, falling trees are a nightmare of mine especially as I drive through the Argyll Forest. My passenger was invoking some Harry Potter spells over the Rest to keep landslides at bay, very funny!
Now it's a glass of well deserved wine before bed. No doubt the storm will rage all night.
I hope that everyone is safe and warm.0 -
Cranky
Well done on ideas for power cuts and the battery gas hob.
Not expecting any problems here but I thought the same a couple of years ago when the lights went out for a couple of hours. I went upstairs to bed with a torch and a good book only to find when the power went back on that all the family had been frantically been trying to contact me as the centuries old bridge had collapsed and a gas main might have fractured. The army were evacuating people and all dds friends were texting them saying saying "doesn't your Mum live in Tadcaster and is she all right?"This site is addictive!"

We had the weirdest sky I have ever seen this afternoon. A couple of hours of the yellow stuff, followed by grey sky with a pure red sun, then blue sky accompanied by ever strengthening winds. On the news it said the red sun was caused by sand blowing over from the sahara! My outside thermometer was still showing 20 deg until 5.00 pm. The wind is still battering us but we haven't had as much as a spot of rain.
The weather in Ireland looked horrendous and it was so sad to hear of the deaths. I hope MARIE and her family are ok.
Keep safe everyone and hope you all manage to have a peaceful night xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
