O/S Daily Monday 16th October 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Still dark here, but mild, I have a wash load ready to go out on the line, which I'll do once it's light.
Lunch yesterday was a very late one, and a change from the plan - I told the menfolk that I wasn't cooking a roast as we went out to visit my parents and the outlaws and it had been too early to put the chicken in the oven before we went out, so DH suggested doing a veg rice/Chinese with it instead - we did pop into local Morries for supplies but it cost £10 ish - not planned and not what I wanted to do really but far cheaper than him suggesting a takeaway later in the day - was really nice, clean plates and enjoyed by us all. Tonight we're having fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.
Yesterday the menfolk spent some time in the garden and sorted out the greenhouse - all looks much better now. I also made a pot of stock from the chicken carcass that's in the fridge - I'll be making that into potato and leek soup within the next day or 2 - using the leeks that were on offer at A***s this week. I quite fancy some veg soup too, so may do that too.
Back to work today - we'll see what today brings - hopefully a busy day, so the day passes quickly.
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone
Thank you for starting us off nmlc.
Yesterday was such a lovely sunny warm day here that I managed to get all of the washing including the bedding done and line dried, a pleasant surprise at this time of the year. I didn’t get around to ironing it though, so that will be a job for today.
My freezer roulette is going well. There are only three things unlabelled left in there and one of those will be dinner tonight. Yesterday it was turkey goulash. As I haven’t had that for a while it made a nice change.
I’ve been invited to a coffee morning at the local school today. The year 6 children are holding it for invited guests to raise money for their chosen charity which is the local hospice. It will be an enjoyable hour or two and a chance to have a chat with some of the other local people who have been invited as well as being for a good cause.
Hugs to those who are having a difficult time at the moment.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning all
Need some match sticks here this morning, dd was working again till 1.30 this morning and so I could not sleep till I knew she was in safe, she will be shattered this morning, she has got work this morning as well bless her.
Work for me too lets hope the day passes quickly and is not too busy, I cant face a busy one !
I got some pork belly strips out of the freezer last night so they will be for dinner today, with some hot sauce and rice and peas, might put the pork in the sc before work this morning.
I hope those of you in Ireland Scotland and Wales stay safe today in the storm xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone.
The forecasted ex-Ophelia storm didn’t arrive overnight though I’m sure it’s on the way. I’m taking a woman down to Glasgow’s cancer unit so I’ll be taking it very easy.
Last night I slathered my feet in cream and went to bed wearing socks, wok up boiling hot and over heating! Had to remove the socks and waft the duvet around to get cooler. Couldn’t sleep all night wearing socks!
Nothing else on the agenda today. I hope that everyone has a happy and fulfilling Monday.0 -
Morning All
The weather was lovely yesterday, there was even some sunshine later on. Washing dried and the grass cut, that will probably be the final cut of the year, glad to have it tidied up.
DDs flight wasn't too late, they did look tired though - probably too much partying!
I had my friends' children and granny over for a roast dinner yesterday, enjoyed by everyone but I was glad when they went as granny talks for Britain.
Hope the wedding went well csarina.
Well done on the wardrobes RR.
It's raining at the moment but no strong winds yet, I think we have that treat in store for later.
Stay safe and have a good day. Take care. XX0 -

Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off nmlc.
Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and hugs, made me feel less alone, you are such lovely folk.
Special thanks to Carolbee
Not sure what today will bring. If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC for the new thread. I feel half doped this morning after a restless night of thinking and worrying about this and that.
All is calm here and it's pot luck whether the tale end of the storm hits us. If it does it will be late afternoon they say. I shall make sure all his battened down just in case!
I got the moss killer down finally yesterday so am hoping it works as miraculously as it says on the tub! I also got the Carrot and Orange soup made so here's the recipe for LAMEWOLF and JACKIE as requested. http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/carrot-orange-soup/9856c1e7-bd49-4d2f-98e0-0b74c04a3852. It was pleasant enough but I felt it was lacking something so next time I am going to add a bit of minced garlic and root ginger as some reviewers of the recipe have done. Give it a bit of ooomph!
Not a lot planned for today but there is a mountain of ironing to be done at some point. I took advantage of the lovely day yesterday and, as well as our bedding, got loads of other washing done too. Including the bedding and clothes brought back from the caravan for winter storage.
I need to do a freezer rummage before deciding on today's victuals. I have got a bit lazy with cooking lately and need to get round to some batch cooking again. The only batch cooking I have been doing of late is soup, soup and more soup! One drawer of the freezer is crammed with the stuff! Mind you it's always handy for a quick lunch with a sandwich when time is short.
Have good day folks and keep safe if you are in the path of the storm. ((HUGS)) for the sad, worried and poorlies. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Apparently we are now faced with the perils of ex-Ophelia. The area at risk has been updated and now extended further East so it looks like we will get a battering after all! Lovely! xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Morning, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
No storm here as yet, hoping to get the bed linen dry before it arrives, but the sky is looking a bit black just now.
The wedding went off ok, I was not too happy about some aspects, but it was their wedding. I did get some reasonable photos. We stayed for the photographs and then came home, so we were well home before it got dark.
We had a freezer dip as well for supper, OH had vegetable casserole and I had sausage and mash. Not our usual Sunday supper but needs must. I was very tired and a bit depressed, so reaching into the freezer was a good idea.
OH was ok thanks to the little pills he took before he left, so no worries there.
Having an easy day today, will shove the dyson round the bedroom when I have finished re-making the bed, and thats it.0 -
Morning all,
I had a lovely weekend spent mostly with family.
My niece had been on this planet 100 days on Sunday so we used that as an excuse to throw a party. I made a white chocolate and raspberry sponge and attempted to write in Korean on top (my sister in low is from SK). She claims it made sense.
Not much else to report. Glasgow looks grey. Must be this storm heading our way.
Stay safe and dry all0
