Warning to 02 customers
Just to let you all know, yesterday I had a rather doddgy call on my mobile from a company claiming to be select-a-phone asking questions regarding my contract and when i last upgraded etc.
I started asking questions like where did you get my number etc and the guy got really nasty, again I demanded where did you get my number and he put me on to his supervisor who was so rude and wouldn't answer any questions and hung up on me.
So I rang 02. and they have recieved lots of calls regarding this same thing and advised me that their fraud squad are looking into it at the minute and advised me if i recieved another call like this to hang up and contact 02.
so i thought i would pass on the advice.
Cheers

I got phoned by these people a couple of months ago, trying to sign me up for an orange deal though. When I asked for written details, he said he would pop them in the post. I asked if he wanted my address and he said he already had it. I asked how he got it, and he hung up on me.
That made me suspicious, and when I couldn't find a web address, that just confirmed my suspicions. If people can't provide written info, I am not interested, Full stop.0 -
I tried looking them up to and all the info i could get was an address and a telephone number that doesn't work!0

I once got a call from someone saying you're due for an upgrade, I goes, I am? I've only just upgraded a few weeks ago, he just kind of went, oh OK then and hung up!!!2p off is still 2p off!0

I had exactly the same call (I am on O2) from some company who's name I didn't catch as the accent was so terrible....I don't really know which part of the UK they rang from (possible Wales). They gave me the same script and was offering contracts on Orange. I asked her how she had managed to get my details, she wouldn't answer and hung up...0

I also got a call from some company based in Cardiff judging by the number trying to get me to "upgrade" . There is obviously a lot of it about.0

Phone companies give numbers out in sequence. Phone retailers will know which numbers they were giving to new customers 12 months ago, and will therefore dial similar numbers at random in the hope of getting people whose contracts are about to expire. Just say you've already arranged a new contract and they'll immediately lose interest.0
