Morning
Still a bit grey here but really warm windows all chucked open and enjoying probably the last of the weather.
Friends here this weekend so last nights detritus is still lurking in the kitchen whilst I enjoy my fix of James MartinSteak pie was a massive success and even if I do say so myself was worth the all day cooking
Had some chips with it and apple crumble for pud. Hardly any left maybe one portion for my dinner tomorrow.:)
When i can be bothered I will do some Croissants or bacon butties for brunch. Want to leave it later as we are off out to dinner tonight so want to be starving. Its my fav Indian so looking forward to my prawn puri and mixed tandori ...course in reality I will probably fill up on poppadoms and the chutney tray
Depending on the cloud base we may sit in the garden with cocktails this avvy or if that is a bit ambitious then we can head to town where my friends want to go to primark for fluffy pjs ....praying for sun as cant stand town on a saturday
Have a lovely day all and if you have sun make the most of it x0 -
Morning all,
Just waiting for the DGC invasion but I think DS is taking them out for part of the day.Its warm but dull here.I was definately glowing after my dogwalk as I'd put a fleece on.
Decided to 'bath' Ly1a when I got back. Given that I cant get a 10st dog actually in a bath,it involves hosing her down outside and finishing off with buckets of warm water. She hates it but I wanted to use her 'non stinky stuff' shampoo as I noticed she had some irritation on her tum last night.it'll freshen her up anyway as I shampooed the rugs and carpet earlier in the week
DH has gone finishing a little job off this morning so no real plans for today.I think it'll be beef curry for tea tonight.
Meant to say Elona, we both love Paul Finch and have read all his books and hadnt realised there is a new one coming out :j.
Hugs to AOD and silver-oldie,it's horrible feeling down like that.
HH,bet you can't wait for Thursday.I hope you have a long and happy retirement!
Csarina hope DGD wedding goes off well and you enjoy the ceremony
Have a good weekend xxSave:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Late this morning as the weather is warm and dry (no sun) but we're on a storm warning for tonight so I thought I'd go and cut the grass again. I did do it at the beginning of the week but it's rained on and off for so many days it was like the first cut after winter. It all looks much tidier now.
I'm dragging the HT out for some fresh air after lunch. He's been a bit down in the dumps lately like a lot of people. A bit of sunshine cheers people up and we haven't had much of that in the last 6 weeks or so. I hope that everyone else feeling the same feels a bit better soon.
The washing machine has just finished with his school shirts so I'd best go and deal with.....0 -
Afternoon all,
Breakfast served and cleared up from, groceries bought and put away. Laundry is in process now ive got a working kitchen. House is a tip though it will have to wait 'cause i'm knackered.
Thinking of you Silver-Oldie.
Onwards and forwards (i'll just have a bit of a nap first).
Have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Silveroldie and AOD I hope things get better for you soon. Hester, don'r run yourself ragged next week, if things don't get done, too bad.
I received an unexpected letter - it came to the Yorkshire house and was a bit like those old solicitor's adverts trying to trace the heirs of someone who is deceased. It mentioned dad and was asking for details about him. It came from the Pru and I checked the number online before ringing so it looks like we might be getting a bit of a windfall nearly 5 years after he died. Mind you, shared between 5 of us I'm not expecting much, we'll wait and see. I'd like to know how they traced me as I don't use my maiden name and the Yorkshire house is never used as my main address.0 -

Afternoon all,
Been busy this morning starting to put up dd's wardrobes we have had to stop now as she is in bed she has to work all night tonight and stay awake, I cant go into details but it is a child protection issue. We will carry on with the wardrobes once she is awake, I am a bit worried about her being up all night and in a potentially dangerous situation but she assures me it is safe, I do hope so. The wardrobes are massive and very well made so should be able to contain her mountain of clothes and shoes !
OH gone out with the dog and I've tidied and hung the washing, Im thinking of fajitas for dinner I can cook dd some before she goes and do her a packed lunch to keep her going.
I was just browsing on FB and came across a vintage safe for sale, its beautiful and very cheap, (they sell for £250 - £300 normally) I contacted the lady and have bought it, just need to get OH to get a friend to help him lift it, the lady said it belonged to her father who had a vintage watch and clock repair shop, I told her that OH will be keeping his vintage watch collection in it and she was thrilled, she said her dad would want us to have it, how lovely !
Right best get on and do something useful, have good days all xx
Hugs to Silveroldie and AOD xx0 -
HESTER take the last 4 working days easy. Don't wear yourself out trying to get all the work up to date.
CSARINA hope the sun shines brightly on your DGD tomorrow and hope the groom keeps his nerves in check! Have a lovely day despite not being able to stay on for the reception.
We got the promised 20 deg and the sun has tried to get out but too much cloud thwarting its chances! Tomorrow's forecast is better so I may at last get the moss killer down!
I was down to town and back in record time this morning. 4 cards bought and took the easy way out with the present - bought a gift card! I had a quick browse of the bargain freezer & grocery shop but, apart from some jars of bearnese sauce for 50p nearing their sell-by date nothing else caught my eye.Thought a couple might come in handy for fish or steak.
Enjoy the rest of the day if you can folks. As usual I am looking forward to my Strictly fix tonight! Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

Wind down and count the hours till you're out of there for good.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I should just take your time with the tasks and not scrat around trying to do it all. You won't get any thanks; and let's face it, what can they do to you?

Seconded!
I'm back home No matter how much I enjoy being with my DM and being in Glasgow I just love being in my own place. I've tucked the car away in the barn as dreadful weather is forecast although I have to take a local woman back down to Glasgow and back on Monday.
Yesterday I eventually got my DM to sign the form to apply for a Blue Badge. It's 12 pages long! Luckily I had her discharge letter from the QE which listed her diagnosis and then printed off the online repeat prescription page from her docs, saved me a lot of writing. She was reluctant to disclose a lot 'in case they try to stop me driving' - not that she has anything which would her stop her driving! I explained that a) she's fine for driving and b) it's for any car in which she's a passenger.
It's not cold enough to lit the woodburner though I really want to.I've unpacked, put the shopping in the fridge and done a little paperwork. I treated myself to the new Val McDermid book as it was on offer in T*sco so I'm looking forward to settling down with it.
