A car has driven past my parked car on the street and taken out my wing mirror. The car didn’t stop and just drove off. I’ve got it on my house cctv. Is it worth reporting?

Well why WOULDN'T you report it unless you like your car with a broken wing mirror?

Because he would have to tell his insurance company which will put the premiums up, probably more than the cost of the mirror.

He should be telling them regardless.

My mirror was taken out by a pheasant, as far as I am aware it did not suffer any serious injury as it flew off leaving me to pick up the pieces. Should I have reported it to my insurers or should I have just paid £40 for a used one off ebay, fixed it myself and kept shtum. No prizes for guessing my chosen option (as the pheasant was unlikely to report it) :p

Fair enough but the OP doesn't give many clues as to why they are asking the question.

I thought private CCTV could only cover your own property - for data protection reasons? (eg you cannot have CCTV covering a public road outside your house).

EDIT: Are you permitted to have CCTV coverage of a public street outside your house?

The thing is not to record on private property, anyone can take photos in public places.

I'm sure it's ok. How about dash cams?
