Redundancy

Hi
I was made redundant last year, although not too bad for me as my husband was still working so we had his income coming in.
I still remember how scared I was though.
I just wanted to say have a look at the temping agencies & see what they have available.
Apart from the obvious in terms of bringing some money in it helps by getting you into another job & helps you gain experience in a new organisation. I'd worked for the same organisation for nearly 20 years so I was worried I wouldn't be able to work somewhere else.
Also a lot of temporary jobs become permanent because they use it as a way of trialling someone.
All the best, I'm sure he'll find something soon.

One of the benefits of the long dark winter months is the soups and stews that can be made for buttons.veg and lentils will help to bulk out both of them and a hearty bowl of thick soup with a crusty roll (if you eat bread of course, I don't but like cheese and crackers with mine) will fill the hollowest tum.Stews can be made overnight in the slow cooker and portioned up for later.a pound of minced beef (I try to buy a decent quality one ) will make quite a bit I divide into three and will make a spag bol or lasagne with one third, a sheps pie with the other, and a chilli with the last bit.a few lentils and/or a handful of oats fill it out a bit and I always use bisto gravy powder as opposed to granules for the gravy More economical to use the powder I have found .a portion of sheps pie with lots of veg added will fill up anyone and if you have a bowl of soup to start OR a bowl of pudding for finish (never all three ) no one will be hungry. When my DDs four boys were younger and a bit fussy about their meals as all children are at times she would put a bowl of crusty bread on the table with some spread and they could fill up with that if they suddenly decided that broccoli was the food of the devil
:):)They are all in their teens now and eat like horses what ever is put in front of them
I have emailed you the recipes I hope they help a bit let me know if you have received them OK

I have just noticed that your OH has Greek yoghurt for breakfast. If you buy that it can add up over time. If you have a slow cooker you can make your own Greek style yoghurt for pennies. I can't do links (technologically challenged) but Google should come up with the 'how-to'.I believe that friends are quiet angels

JackieO times must be hard if you have to eat your bed too ! :rotfl::rotfl:Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0

Thanks monogran I'm still making it at the moment I use the slowcooker method, but when the cold weather hits I will have to buy it in as this place is too cold and I have trouble getting it to thicken and end up buying a small pot as starter every other week which negates the saving. It's a pain as he won't eat porridge which is what I will have over the colder month, he could make life easier for me where food is concerned, I think some adults are fussier then children but I guess it not that fun for him when everything he really loves he has to limit so strictly.0 -
I feel for you tori.k. Everyone does have their fads but you are right, some are faddier than others. On a cold, miserable winter's morning I can't think that anyone would choose a chilly pot of yoghurt over a gorgeous, steaming bowl of porridge. Still, each to their own.
Having to cope with a special diet makes life even more complicated than it already is.
As I said, I feel for you.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Hey everyone!
I wrote a massive reply and then lost it
We were supposed to be going to the in laws today for a lovely roast dinner, but pickle has been poorly so we stayed home.
Sounds bad but I was relying on her having said she was giving me her Sainsbugs vouchers to fill the cupboards and now I don’t have that and I have $13.50 to last us the week (excuse the $ i have an American keyboard).
I’m not sure how i will get the money to last.
On Tuesday I’m meeting a friend in the evening, i never ever go out but pickle has been waiting for a paediatrician appointment for 6 months after years of tests and things and we finally had the appointment came through :T its for in a couple of weeks time, but now I’m really worrying about it, my friends son has similar problems and knowing my worries she said we should meet up so she can hopefully put my mind at ease, i really need it, from someone who understands as it can be so lonely. We have agreed to meet up at a pub but we don’t drink so will try and make a soft drink last. Can’t go to hers and mine is too small and no room to chat in without ears
Also hubby has an interview on Wednesday an hour away and so will need to put diesel in the car.
One of the dry cleaners does a free clean if you’re going to an interview so going to take advantage of that.
I’m a bit worried that I’ve run out of money this week and in a few weeks hubby wont have a job at all! Really need to start doing much better! But that’s why I’m here so have to keep positive.
Learn from our mistakes!
We have a meeting with the solicitors in the morning for a check of the settlement.
A really good thing is that that we spent today pegging the trampoline to the ground, tidying the garden and putting things away. Hubby has finally fixed the shed window (for nothing). We found a bulb for the car and a light switch for Pickle’s room which we now don’t have to go out and buy
We have tidied every room in the house except the cupboard under the stairs and have a couple of things to get on eBay.
I always find that when the house is tidy i feel so much happier!
I’m going to get that cupboard done tomorrow and see if there’s anything else to sell.
There wont be much But every penny counts as they say.
Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend and has a positive week xEverything is always better after a cup of tea0 -
Could you buy ChirpyChick's Beetle?

He should be so lucky, think it may be a bit of a push to get the pallets and wood for the burner in a herbie. Besides the fact he's not allowed anything too nice as when we got me a new to me car I asked for a Mercedes and he cheated me, well technically he didn't when he got me a smart 4 2 , ( Mercedes produce smart cars)0 -
Tori, do you serve your son plain porridge. I don,t know what sort of porridge you serve but we used the large oats and cook it in a Pyrex bowl in the mispcrowave. Putting in some finely chopped apple or a few sultanas will liven it up and perhaps make it more interesting.0
