Money Transfer and Halifax

So linked to my other thread from a few days ago, I would like to make a payment on a debit card which is then transferred to my long life 0% credit card

I have a Halifax Clarity card with a limit of £6,000 and reading here I understand I can money transfer half of this for no fee.

So my plan would be:
  1. MT the £3,000 (or whatever figure is) to my bank account
  2. Buy the item using my bank debit card
  3. Balance transfer from my 0% card onto the Halifax card to shift it onto no interest

Is this correct?

And I have just been on my account online and while I see BT option I don't see the MT option, like I did on say Virgin for instance.

Thanks for any comments.

  • I don't believe your Clarity Card has a money transfer option.

What, some do and some don't?

Don't think any Clarity cards have a money transfer option. If they do, they're very rare.

Nothing to stop you withdrawing the cash over the counter, but you'll pay interest on it like any other withdrawal.

The Halifax Clarity is a specialist travel card so it won't have any money transfer options.

Halifax only offer 0% money transfer deals to the majority of their existing credit card holders intermittently - it could be every month, or every 6 months depending on how you run your account, however, Clarity is the exception and not one of those cards they offer it on.

What you need is a separate money transfer card. Or even perhaps, a 0% purchases card.

  • Thanks everybody.
I must be getting confused with another card I've read about on these boards.
