Conrad never stopped using that argument. Here's but one example:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=73269036&postcount=171

That's very nice ......... but it does not say that the EU needs us more than we need them; it does not say that a "trade deal with the bloc will be done and dusted within months" as Ballard suggested either, does it? So lovely though it is, you have proven nothing. It was a waste of electrons, basically.

Oh and BTW, the German car industry is already suffering because of Brexit. https://www.thelocal.de/20171206/brexit-has-sapped-demand-for-german-cars-auto-industry-confirms

Let's just see what happens in negotiations; we're only just over half-way through so we will soon see.

Really? If there were so many, YOU supply a few if you can. No blustering, no, "but"'s and no more waffle. Prove that you're not just telling fibs.

BTW, as the EU sell us £80 billion more per year than we in turn sell them who do you think needs who the most and why?

"You're lying, no one said the EU needs us more."

"oh btw the EU needs us more"

Anyway, as always I'll do the googling as no one else can be bothered.

The phrase "they need us more" is one of the pillars of Brexit.

Leavers insisted that as soon as the referendum result was announced the EU would realised that they need us more than we need them and that a trade deal with the bloc would be done and dusted within months.

That hasn't happened but it doesn't matter because as soon as we're able to sign deals with other nations they'll all be rushing to sign on the dotted line.

They cant be wrong twice now, can they? Have faith!

What they predicted was that all the other countries would fall over each other to sign individual trade deals with plucky Britain, then the EU would collapse under the weight of rebellion.

Another thing you seem to dislike is watching that video link I provided ;)

    It isn't long I promise. :)

I haven't forgotten, just haven't had the opportunity yet. I'll get to it

See, they didn't say that! Well done you for pointing it out. That'll be why you haven't posted a single verifiable example.
    :T

(It might help you if you check what you link before you post it BTW. Plus it's not from this forum and no mention of quick deal. ;) )

That’s what you are triumphally clapping over, losing an argument?

Well I suppose as a Brexiter all you really get is being wrong and looking wrong and being wrong and looking colossally incompetent so the former probably does feel like a victory by now.

It's not so much about sheer financial amounts, but a case of who shouts first and shouts loudest.

I offer exhibit A : the French farmers and fisherman, followed closely by their Spanish cousins.

The amounts involved might be small compared to trade in autos, but you can easily imagine a few lorries being burned along the autoroutes, followed by protests.

I'd probably do same if my livelihood were directly threatened. It's only the supine politicians who struggle to fight for something.

Current events in France are a clear indication that the deeply ingrained mentality of the past remain firmly entrenched. Blockading French ports/roads is going to have a significant disruption on trade not just for the UK. Western dominance is waning. Time to look further afield. For less aggressive trading/investment partners.

    Like who? China or Korea?

As far as I can tell, most of our prospective trade partners want something that'll be a hard sell to the public (Australia, usa, India) or are viewing Brexit as an opportunity to shake us down for a better deal (S. Korea).

Other a just aren't big markets for what we produce (China).

Other either have problems with counterfeits or difficulties in interacting due to culture.

Now I agree we should be reaching East. But we don't need Brexit for that.

Such offended objection there - for what?

    Amazing innit?

First remainers tell us that those voting leave did so because they were racist, unintelligent and xenophobic.

Now it seems they're trying to tell us it's because leavers were told that the EU needs us more than we need them!

Then, when a brave leaver points out their errors leavers are told that instead we are wrong!

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Well just for you Arklight, here are just a few examples of where Team Remain got it very wrong.
    No immediateemergency budget.
    No immediate recession.
    No millions of jobs lost.
    No recession.

Now ask them for their opinion on if the EU need us more and enjoy more flipflopping for a couple of pages.

It was a long time ago but I do remember how arguments went in the playground.
Yes you did no you did not etc etc.

Now we are all nearly grown up or is that nearly all grown up?

This is part 5 of this Brexit thread. Having been in at the start to now read posters denying that
Discomfort with too many foreigners (very polite that)
    and
They need us more than we need them
is.........lost for words, other than ridiculous.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.
