    As I've said before this far-right tsunami is sweeping Europe, from Austria to Czech Republic, Poland to Germany. Remainers are in total denial if social media is anything to go by.

    They think they can reverse Brexit and it will be peace & harmony. It wont. It will make the poll-tax rights look like a picnic. A referendum on English independence would rapidly occur.

    Alright calm down, Enoch,

    Some of the interest rate hawks already backing down a little based on the limited data we have seen so far in 2018

    Breaking;

    The Bank Of England's chief economist Andy Haldane further stressed the likelihood of rate rises.

    He said economy growth is likely to beat policymakers!!!8217; forecasts !!!8211; although GDP growth has today been unexpectedly revised down for the final quarter of 2017 to 0.4%.

    Haldane also said wages are expected to rise above 3%, after growth was measured at 2.5% in the final three months of last year.

    If you give me London independence the rest of England is welcome to do whatever it wants ;)

    I think for the "hard right" you need to wend your way to the Bundestag in Berlin, 94 of the !!!!ers have just been voted in by the German people.
    The "hard right" are currently polling second in German and Sweden apparently. Is this really the economic and political block we need be to exposing our much admired liberal tolerant sensibilities to?
    On the continent, the hard right is on the opposition benches.
    In the UK, it's in government.

    I still think we will see rises, not sure the outlook is for quite as many quite as fast at present.

    A lot of the people in this thread would happily bring back the death penalty, shut down 110 of our 140 universities overnight, completely close the borders to anyone other than wealthy tourists on 30 day visas, deport anyone vaguely foreign who they consider to be a criminal, eliminate the BBC, eliminate the Labour party, and enforce compulsory birth control on people by IQ scores.

    And they don't call themselves Right Wing.

    lol!
    That`s got to be the most desperate link in the history of this thread, and we've had some beauties on both sides of the argument it has to be said. I didn't realise you hung on the every word of Roger Helmer MEP! :)
    BTW, the fascists in Austria are in coalition and have a ministry or two.

    I!!!8217;m anti Brexit and quite fond of India, but that article is complete cobblers. There is a large seam of imperial overhang resentment in India which is understandable. But when you've seen villages in Gujarat that have no running water in 2018 you wonder how a London based correspondent can report home that the UK is experiencing 'extreme impoverishment.'

    What the article does sum up though, is what India as a country thinks about the UK. They aren!!!8217;t especially OK with Britain's colonial past, which in many ways was no different to the USA's slavery, complete with the absence of reparations or any obvious remorse whatsoever.

    The restrictions on visas to South Asians was taken as a personal slap in the face directed at India that they are still fuming about. Britain is going to have to offer an awful lot for a bilateral agreement with India, and a return of chain immigration and citizenship visas for students will be a bottom line.

    Little Englanders will love that. :beer:
    No.
    You were doing okay-ish until this bit:

    (fixed that for you.) Do you really think that many Indians really care about the UK - or indeed anywhere else outside India except Pakistan maybe or Bangladesh? No, they don't.
    Nice try at getting your anti-Brexit comment in but it's a "fail" and not only for that but because the EU trade discussions with India are going where, and why? For the very same reasons.

    The UK is India's 3rd largest investor. They might well not like your "personal slap" but if they want UK-sourced investment to continue at such a pace it's likely that compromise will be reached.

    From BBC Radio 4 interview - a day 1 Brexiteer's argument becomes reality;
    'Protect jobs, not Brussels' French car industry WARN Macron over Brexit DISASTER

    A KEY lobbyist for the French car industry has warned Macron not to risk crippling his own economy for the sake of the European project, amid growing fears that a no deal Brexit would trigger a "market disaster" for France.

    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/921963/French-car-industry-Brexit-warning-Emmanuel-Macron-economy
    And you can understand it. A large part of Asia, America and Australasia is ready, waiting and itching to replace Britains imports currently from the EU with their own goods and produce.
    The UK would survive this.
    I'm not at all sure that the EU as we know it will.
    The UK really is in a good position if only we knew it.
