There was an attempt to include a clause to leave the single market in the 2017 manifesto and the same party failed to gain a majority.

We therefore must, to respect the will of the people, remain in the Single Market.

Have you even read the Conservative manifesto? Here it is:

Please read P38 and then come back and agree that you weren't telling the truth.

Oh yeah - and a bloke in a pub said.........

So you’re saying that the remain camp didn’t lie when it was predicted that the economy would collapse if we voted to leave?

I am a leaver, but no I don't think that was a lie. I think most believed their own predictions. I didn't.

No but that isn't quite the situation we find ourselves in. The EU think we owe them money and the PM has been pretty explicit that she agrees with that POV and has committed to pay it.

As a grown up that seems to me like a great starting point for meaningful discussions rather than an impasse.
Think is the operative work, they think we owe so much we have agreed we should pay something but dispute the amount. If he EU think that is not enough they need to show us clearly what we owe not just say it's a pitence.

The thing is, this bill is a pitence in the grand scheme of things. It's certainly going to be less than the rest of the cost of Brexit or the economic damage caused by the uncertainty.

So we're almost certainly better off just paying them that not. Or we could provide a counter offer and press on with negotiating.

The ongoing costs are not clear and most likely will be somewhere in between yours and Conrads predictions.

We have made our counter offer it's now up to them to press on with negotiating.

To make the point I'm not a doom monger at all, here some upbeat news on Brexit:
With people dying younger thanks to Brexit induced austerity, the pension crisis could be solved. Rejoice!

Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

Good grief. Where does it say people are dying younger? It doesn't. It simply says that mortality rates have not been increasing as much as previously, a trend which has been known about for a few years.

So what has this got to do with Brexit? You and the Independent are really stretching it now and you accuse pro-leavers of lying.

Yes it does. It's in the article.
    Earlier Death
Last year, CMI cut projected lifespans for people aged 65 versus the 2013 figures
“If we don't spend appropriately on social care, if we don't spend appropriately on healthcare, then certainly the quality of life will get worse for older people and maybe the length of life too,”
Luckily we will be enjoying that £350 million per week extra for the NHS shortly, and all this will be avoided? Who knows...
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

City's Brexit blueprint to be used as "starting point" for trade deal once Brussels opens second stage of talks
The City's blueprint report for regulation after Brexit is likely to become a foundational document when trade discussions are finally reached, one of the authors has today revealed.
Hoban said it was seen as "a very serious piece of work" in Brussels, and that it had received "very little pushback" because it argues for a bespoke model, rather than a "flawed" enhanced equivalence route, which would result in the sector remaining under ECJ jurisdiction and continuing to be a "rule-taker".
