Better value TV deal

Options
Hi,
I have signed up to Sky TV, phone & broadband - boxset bundle with Sky Sports HD, unlimited 15mb ADSL internet and pay as you talk phone line, which costs £55 a month. I've recently found out we have our first little one on the way so want to try and get better value and would really appreciate some help with where to start.

I've noticed Now TV have an offer which is 12 months boxsets & movies for £99 which is far better value than what we're currently paying. After using the Moneysavingexpert Broadband Unbundled comparison I am debating whether to go for Plusnet 38mb broadband for £25 a month or the EE £13.34/mth 17mb broadband and weekend calls and stream the Now TV. My only concern is my girlfriend has to be able to record TV programmes and as you can't do so on Now TV boxes I would massively appreciate some help on what the best value device is to schedule & record (preferably more than one channel at a time). Also, any advice on whether you need 38mb + fibre broadband for Now TV streaming or if 17mb ADSL is fine would be great, thanks very much.

First how long is left your Sky contracts.
Pointless moving if you have a large amount to pay to get out of the contract .

Now TV streams over the internet, the provider of this internet is irrelevant but yes you can't record on it, though purely on price alone it wipes the floor with Sky (remember NowTV is owned by Sky) and play your cards right voucher passes can be cheap as chips.

Don't forget you don't have to have the internet/phone with Sky, though you'd probably get it cheaper as a bundle pack than splitting things up.

If you want to record Sky+ style, there are only really three options: 1) Sky, 2) Virgin TIVO, 3) A Freesat HDD recorder.

Happy to be proven wrong ........but I thought that the cooling off period ended as soon as the Sky equipment was installed/used ??

As above i thought it was 14 days for new contracts .
  • The customer rep I spoke to yesterday told me that you get 31 days from installation as a cooling off period (I also thought it was 14 days but apparently not).

My girlfriend has since decided she's happy with what we've got right now - I won't argue.
