So ive looked through my statements and can see the usage for electric:

    Dec-15 Actual 11670
    Apr-16 Estimated 13366
    Jun-16 Actual 14399
    Jan-17 Estimated 17134
    Jul-17 Actual 26517
    Sep-17 Estimated 27673
    Oct-17 Estimated 29117

The jump between Jan and July is horrific and on reflection i can probably see why BG have upped the bill on that estimate. What i cant work out is why such a jump!! :( Ive done nothing really different.
I could understand if i added a hot tub or something draining lots of power but for such a big jump...

To breakdown my usage this is what i use per day:

Morning - Bedroom lights on, misses hair straighteners, kettle for a coffee, kitchen lights (led x4 for half hour)
Day - Nothing as not in
Evening from 6pm - PS4, x2 TV, washing machine and dish washer for an hour, laptop for a couple of hours , oven for an hour, 12 lights inside for a few hours, two outside lights for 3-4 hours).

This is not consistent with your billed consumption of approx 25 units a day - more like 10. You have gas heating so I assume water heating and showers as well. What else is there - electric immersion, panel heaters ??

Have you rung BG yet ?

The problem is that the January reading is Estimated so was probably too low.

What is your actual reading now? How does it compare to the estimated reading for October?

If i could get access to them then i would lol

My Gas readings per month read like this:

    07 Oct 2017 Estimated 04389 558.0
    31 Jul 2017 Estimated 04339 382.0
    29 Jun 2017 Meter Reader 04305 568.0
    07 Apr 2017 Estimated 04254 1616.0
    05 Jan 2017 Estimated 04110 4778.0
    08 Oct 2016 Estimated 03682 1190.0
    28 Jun 2016 Meter Reader 03577 448.0
    07 Apr 2016 Estimated 03537 7152.0
    28 Dec 2015 Meter Reader 02898 3595.0
    08 Oct 2015 Estimated 02576 1974.0
    24 Jun 2015 Meter Reader 02401 26600.0

So one would assume the electricity has been estimated in the same month frames..
I will email BG asking for a full monthly breakdown of the leccy and go from there.

    Thanks for the help

As you say if your gas was estimated on 07 April 2017 it is reasonable to assume that the electricity reading of 22639 on 7 April 2017 was also estimated.

Even though the meter reader read the meters on 28 June 2016 it is probable that this reading was rejected and an Estimated reading substituted.*

*If a meter reading is taken by a meter reader or customer, it will be rejected by the all seeing, all knowing Computer if it is outside the set tolerance of the 'expected' reading - the Computer 'assumes' a mistake has been made!

Unless the customer rings BG and a manual intervention is made, this can carry on for years.

My gas is very low.. £35 per month and just had £170 credit as paying too much it seems
We have under floor heating which is run off the boiler i think?.
The hot water is run from the main boiler.
No panel heaters but a couple rail heaters (think they run from the hot water).

Sorry not very good with the diy aspect of all this (i rent and was already installed)
I think it comes from the boiler as have to make sure the boiler is fired up for the heating to work.
    My bad

Reading from October 3rd is 29027
Reading from October 9th is 29156

In those 6 days i would use leccy as any other normal day, so on avg 21.5kw per day

    Which is astonishingly high.

If our household uses 10kwh a day (2 bed detached house with GCH) it's usually because the tumble drier has been used a couple of times.

This, coupled with the average from April to today of 30kwh a day is crazy high, and explains the bills Skyrocketing.

If you have any holidays away from the house planned, turn everything off, and check the meter before and after you go, as something is using lots and lots of power.

For a bit of perspective, you're nearly using an average of 1,000 watts of power at all times. That's like having either 30+ 60 watt light bulbs, 10 flat screen TVs, or a 1,000W microwave on 24/7.

AND you have Solar panels? just how much energy are you actually using? How much power is generated by the panels? Is there a cable outside your meter, heading towards a neighbours or something? Yikes.
