Isn't that a random one. How fortuitous you managed to see it on the forum and be the highest bidder.

This is not unusual at all. I belong to a lot of other eBay forums, mainly for specialised items and it is not unusual for someone to post, usually in the last dying hours desperately asking other members if their item is visible as unusually it has no bids or watchers. Due to time differences or people not logged in it often goes cheaply to a forum member who perhaps can see it when others can't.

The only thing I don't understand is why more forums don't set up their own proper sales, many do and one I use has a properly formatted 'subscription' based micro selling site. I'm also surprised at the number of people who when asked if they will sell an item still insist on going through eBay for 'their protection'.

I've found a real dip of sales in the last few weeks and checked and the market is down on last year in clothing on eBay by a little.

They will shove your listing behind the sellers who do everything eBay try to get you to do e.g. Use global shipping, offer free delivery, offer next day delivery etc. They will usually be at the top of the search. I'd check your seller performance if you haven't already. Maybe someone has left you something like positive feedback with negative stars on something or when I have had to add tracking long after I posted item that has affected my level until I get it checked ( as always within 2 days) and removed.

I noticed one of mine was right at the back even though it only had 4 days left and my account was in good standing so I don't know either . I've never noticed only local people buying ever? Maybe just coincidence?

Hope it picks up . Possibly it's the sales and changing season slowing it down?

My sales have dropped dramatically and when I checked my seller dashboard I have a 1 star for item as described and communication. I did have a problem with a sale but I refunded the buyer in full and apologised but I guess they were still unhappy

Just what I need in the run up to Christmas.

Really weird- I was typing a response on another thread, had no other MSE page open- and it jumped to this thread and posted here!

Is it too late to ask seller to remove feedback and explain how it affects you? I give sellers good feedback if they deal with item not as described well as we all make mistakes and are human and it's how you deal with them that counts.

Ring eBay and see if they can remove it as they can see your emails and see how you dealt with it, worth a go if it's affecting your sales as your items will be right at the end and hardly ever seen.

i know I'll get slammed for this but maybe open a buying account on eBay - one for buying and one for selling and maybe switch them to selling on the good one and just buy on the not so good one and do your best to always describe flaws and photograph them .... I'm off to hide as I'm sure I'll get told off for suggesting that but might help you sell over Xmas sshhhh :p

I think you'll find that some of us run considerably more than 2 accounts, there is nothing wrong with that at all and certainly regular users shouldn't be risking buying and selling on the same account.

However as a business seller (which charlies_mum is) it is difficult to give up a high feedback account that gets regular repeat buyers and start again. I did it once when I picked up a stalker, gave up a 6000+ feedback account, but I was lucky as I had another in waiting with high feedback. I don't think I would want to do it now though as my shop is well established and I know a number of buyers keep coming back.

How did you pick up an eBay stalker? Were they just copying all your stuff or interested in you personally? That's a worry.

I think you have to have a spare account. Glad it's not naughty . A few years ago I was cancelling listings when people changed their mind etc using seller out of stock option often as I didn't think it mattered and destroyed my account a long while ago so have a good spare one which I have built up . Thankfully they are all ok now but I'm still in the middle or end of some searches.

It was a few years back now and someone, I suspect from here, disliked my postings so managed to discover my ebay ID as I had been careless in saying what I was selling. I didn't have a shop at the time and although a business I was very small time, and they just kept buying everything using new IDs, as fast as I blocked them they started up again- then left negs and complained about items being faked- even before items were shipped. Ebay were helpful, but this person just kept getting round my blocks, using other people to bid etc. In the end I admitted defeat as it wasn't worth the energy in fighting them. Ebay confirmed my account was in good standing, no poor feedback and no other violations (this was before stars and defects) and I just abandoned the account and switched to another. At that time business users didn't have to display details so they never followed me to a different account.

as for different accounts I think the minimum for anyone who sells as a business is 4, one buying and one selling for business, and one of each for private sales and purchases. I am mindful of the fact though that all of them must be in good standing as to lose or be restricted on one affects them all.

That's so awful! Setting up a new account is a right pain, they must have been a right saddo to go to that extreme. Glad you got it sorted.
Shame eBay couldn't get their IP address and work out where they were.

So my main account is brilliant but my smaller other account has just got a neg that I hope to get removed. That wouldn't affect my good account would it? They have the same PayPal payment address .

Spoken with EBay CS and apparently there is a known site bug which stops some sellers' items being shown, and I am one of them

No idea when it will be fixed. This is going to be a disaster unless they get it sorted quickly.
