I know how you feel about feeling unwanted at home sometimes.....keep saving! (I'm a bit of a hypocrite as I've just put an order in on Amazon...but in my defence, 3 of the things in my basket are Christmas presents
Double-time overtime sounds great! In my pre-teaching life, I used to have to work Sundays to get that.0 -
Well done in doing overtime. It'll be useful for you. I hope you are not too tired though. You will move out eventually and every bit helps.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220

I do feel its difficult to live at home when all you want is to have your own space but i use it as motivation to save as much as possible.
I am very tired from doing all this extra work but without it saving as much as im planning just wont be possible.
Im out of halloween tomorrow and i always got ott when drinking and im worried about how much im going to spend. Its the only time im going out so ive allowed myself a big budget so i can get a taxi aswell as entry's/drinking. After this weekend im hoping itll go back to normal spending behaviour and i can just patiently wait for payday. just another 22 days to go!0 -
Halloween tonight and i have made my friend very aware of my budget so i can leave all my cards at home and just take cash. Im also not dressing up other then a bit of costume makeup that i already bought the other day. Im just praying i dont actually spend much of it. Im definitely going to pre-drink so I don't spend anything other than cab and entry.
As winter is coming in the dreaded horse rugs start coming out and as shes a baby shes most definitely grown out of last years wardrobe which in my new saving attitude is my worst nightmare. I think shell be fine with her old rugs as although there a little on the small side, they wont kill her and itll save me buying her a new wardrobe when she'll most likely grow out of them again next year. Ive taken a hundred out of savings to buy her a few bits but im praying i can put some of that back.
With christmas around the corner i also have a big present idea for C but it may mean the 1k i was so looking forward to saving might have to be put off for another monthBut im going to fit in as much overtime as i can physically manage during the week and just pray i can still put away a lot.

Sooooo, night out didn’t exactly go to plan. It was an ok evening but I feel like my days of going out drinking are behind me. Not only that but everytime I go out I definitely go way overboard. I spent more then I was supposed to however because the horse rugs came to less then I thought it counteracted everything. I’m still 100 down on savings and I’m still not sure I’m going to be able to put anything away this month
On the plus side C won 30 on a slot machine and we’re using it to have a date night on Saturday for Chinese takeout and movie at home. Goal is to have a no spend week! I don’t want to spend any more from now until after the weekend. I’m going to aim for the 9th as we have plenty of food at home and on the 9th the horse needs her feet trimmed. Then i only have a week till payday. Here’s hoping0 -
It's hard to stick to a budget when you're out drinking and having fun...that's why I limit my nights out, although I am not that interested in clubbing anymore.
So you haven't saved as much as you wanted this month...but there's always next monthAnd as long as you save something, it's all good.

Definitely, I completely agree. I've been asked to go out this weekend but I'm just going to be honest with my friend and tell her I not only need a break from going out but that I can't keep spending a small fortune just to feel so crappy the next day. I'll suggest something else to do :T0 -
It's almost my mse forum 1 month anniversary and I feel like that deserves celebration- probably in the form of putting money into my savings account!!
C and I have found a flat that we like and put an offer in. The offer was almost 20k below the asking price and of course it was rejected but we got the vibe from the real estate agents that they are desperate to get rid of him as the flat has been up for over 6 months with the owner turning down an offer for originally a lot more then the asking price is now. They've gone to the lengths of emailing me to let me know they've asked him to strongly re-consider the offer overnight and said they will be in touch today. Fingers crossed because C likes this one and he's extremely picky and indecisive which is currently driving me up the wall!
I've made a move that I'm yet to decide will be good or not. I've re-ordered my credit card so I can buy all my Christmas presents in one go and then pay for it on pay day rather then wait for payday to come to then buy presents. With my terrible history with how tempted I get with that card I'll need to be super strict with myself or use it then cut it up again.
I'm also thinking long term with savings and have come up with a bit of a plan. Currently C holds all my savings money, however, as much as I'm sure nothing will happen to or between C and I, I've decided every time I have a round figure such as 5k I'm going to lock it away in a fixed rate account for 1/2 years. C and I know it's realistic to expect 2/3 years before I possibly have a deposit at the very least and then this way I will actually earn something off that money, it's in my name if anything were to ever go wrong and I'll keep 1-2k with C in case of emergency. I like this idea mostly because I can be impulsive and if I lock the funds away and forget about them I can remove temptation to use it.
I also think this idea will be like milestone moments. If I start with one fixed account with 5k, then do it again and so on I feel like it'll be a little acknowledgment of my achievement to be able to lock it away and get a date it can go back in the house deposit fund. This also really is motivating me to save and that is the goal at the moment!0 -
Its been a strange weekend. Considering this is the first weekend I've had off for as long as i can remember it was supposed to be nice and chilled and lazy. It was heading that way until the horse stood on my foot. Genuinely thought it was broken however went to A&E and said it was just tissue damage. So my lovely chilled weekend has turned into a not so good and in pain weekend. However i have only 12 days till payday and although i have very little money to see me through, i have faith I will do well.
Im doing overtime again today. Friday i clocked in 5 hours of double time which is supposed to go in Novembers pay however i don't think it'll be keyed in time so it may go in Decembers. Because of Christmas I'm planning to put away just 100.00 for this month which is nothing compared to the 1k i originally wanted to put in but at least its not nothing. I'm hoping to make a little bit of it up by putting in more in December and trying to round my savings to £2500.00 - which is exactly half way from my savings goal of 5k so i can put it away in a fixed rate account!
Im happy i got my credit card again and have done some of my Christmas shopping with it. I have been so tempted to use it but i have not having it for a couple months has got me out of the habit and although ive thought about it, i haven't actually used it for anything other then its intended use. If i make sure i keep this up hopefully i wont have to pro-long my suspended savings.
Still putting in tiny balances and rounding down balances to put into savings which is actually an amazing saving method. I love seeing a round balance and im putting in quite a bit of money because of it. As of December i'm going to find out my overall savings balance to keep track of it because although i know i have 1250.00 i don't know the exact figure as of yet.0 -
Oh my gosh, your poor foot:eek::eek::eek: A horse is v heavy. Crumbs. I hope it is ok.
Well done on overtime - every penny helps. I applaud anyone who does overtime in the winter! I can't bare to be at work in the dark so well done.
Congratulations on a superb savings target for December. :T:T:T:T:TAiming for a minimal spend 20220
