Alternative use for Talcum?

I always put a little talc inside my bicycle tyres - it stops the inner-tube sticking to the inside of the tyre, making punctures less likely.0

Well I never knew that slugs and snails don't like talc but logically of course they won't.Brilliant this could be the answer to the war of attrition that goes on in our garden every year and funnily enough I seem to have quite a supply of talc at the mo..."Sometimes life sucks....but the alternative is unacceptable."0

They had run out of talc in my Tesco, but if you buy the baby oil instead you can use it for shining up all the stainless steel in the kitchen. I use it on my cooker, splashback and cooker hood, as well as the kettle, storage jars and bread bin! They are all smear free and gleaming afterwards, and the room smells nice too.But there are dreams that cannot be,and there are storms we cannot weather!0

If you want to pass on all those Johnsons products you're buying, you might want to try calling your local Womens Aid project who should be able to take donations to local refuges and safe houses that often have women with small children and babies. These refuges rely on donations for many of the things the women need.

Talc is great for getting wooden drawers to run more smoothly along their grooves or housings.
just sprinkle a small amount on the runners..works like magic.
have alos tried this on squeaky door hinges..bit tricky as the talc tends to go everywhere, but it helps a bit0 -
Can't think of an alternative but it did occur that the following might be useful.
I'm donating the talc to a Children's Orphanage in Rwanda. My Church has connections there & sends out a container of various items after Harvest Festival Service for the babies there. You could also give to a local Old People's home or local hospital.0 -
A bit like the dope/model aircraft application, I found talc (jumble sale 20p) mixed into 2-part epoxy resin made an excellent filler for use on a wooden boat hull. It rubbed down easily to a give perfect surface for subsequent painting.

If you are troubled with ants around your home sprinkle some talc about it will get rid of them. Its the best thing in the world I have found for getting rid of ants, and smells nice at the same time. When the ants have gone the next day just vac up the talc thats left.
:T Hope this helps

I use it in my dustbin to get rid of the smells. As it is only emptied once a fortnight it can get rather smelly, esp as my sons nappies go in there. Just sprinkle a bit in over the rubbish.0
