Was just researching uses for talc -- and the top hit on google was MSE -- wonder why that is :rotfl:...
My first use, discovered today, is to sprinkle it on my garden pebbles to keep pet smells down... Used to use Zoflora... Talc is much better, added bonus is it looks like a winter wonderland... Great!0 -
Can you ever really have too much talc...?0

I did this and got several very nasty static electricity shocks. I was using a miele cylinder cleaner and it has a metal (reinforcing) strip in the handle.
Very odd - had to hold the cleaner inside a cushion just to clear the talc from my carpet after 3 shocks.

Use talc to absorb oil spills or petrol spills on tarmac drives. If you try to wash oil off with detergent is dissolves the tar and breaks down the surface. Talc dries out the oil after a day or so - sweep up surplus and let the rain wash the remaining powder off the surface.:j0

Dust it on the floor outside all of your windows and doors. Then if you are burgled, you'll have an imprint of the burglar's shoe to help the police track the miscreant down! I've seen it work for Columbo.0

I have an old hot air balloon, vintage 1983 and it's porous so when I inflate it I sprinkle about a kg of talc into the envelope as it is cold inflating and it makes it fly much further on a bottle of gas! Betta go get some flying talc from Tesco's!0

Have you done that thing for the kids where you cut out a pair of 'boot prints' (and reindeer hoof prints if you're very arty) out of a square of cardboard, then make talcum snow footprints in the garden. Of course if it's a white Christmas you'll have kept it all for nothing although you could also do it indoors from the fireplace to the presents ...... I'm not fond of that option as it might mean hoovering on Christmas Day......0

If you have got small children that still believe in father christmas? This a brilliant trick, on christmas eve when they've gone to bed, put on some wellingtons or large boots and make footpints going up the stairs to their bedrooms by shaking talc over the top of your boots, when you lift your foot up it leaves a print that looks like snow, its worth it to see their little faces! And you can hoover it up after!0

Can I just say be careful, read this:
http://www.preventcancer.com/consumers/cosmetics/talc.htm
I was using talc all over my body after I had a shower (before I went to bed) since I was 13 I am now 23. If I had known it can cause ovarian cancer I would never have used it! I won’t know if it’s done any harm now as it can take years. Hopefully it hasn’t as I am 7 months pregnant - another thing I have read is that if you choose to put talc on your baby make sure it’s a tiny bit on the back, never on the chest, and make sure it has a nappy on when your baby is around talc especially with girls.
Back to the subject now, talc can be very useful when you have sores in between your toes, before you go to bed put talc on the sores and it would have dried them up by the morning - tried and it works.
Another is if you have squeaky floorboards, sprinkle talc all over them and it should stop them squeaking when rubbing together - not had a chance to try but will be trying it soon so will let you know!
Cheers x0
