BT Broadband Boost

Hi just got an email from BT today telling me they were giving me a free Speed Boost, my speed would go up to 76mb,no need to do anything it was a reward for for being a customer for 861 days.

Now here’s the thing, I was on infinity 1 before and always had a solid down speed of 54mb.

I have checked my router connection and it says I am synced at the exchange at 80mb,but I am only now getting a download speed of 20mb.

Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Post your router stats, if you are being 'upgraded' to Infinity 2 type speeds, then I would imagine it's nothing more than a reconfiguration of the port speed, have you noticed any fall off in download speed ?,

my router stats have gone up:

    Downstream sync speed: 80.00 Mbps

    Upstream sync speed: 20.00 Mbps

but my actual download speed has gone down?

Also had my Boost email today (6307 days:p),
I'm already getting 51.5 Mbps which is ample, I definitely won't be continuing with 76 Mbps.
It does say they will notify you when it is applied, how soon were you updated and how did they contact you?
Downstream sync 55 Mbps and Upstream is 9.99 Mbps

There's no need to do anything ‐ sit back, relax and we'll let you know when your boosts have been activated.

    It’s a permanant change.

All infinity 1 circuits, where the line can support higher than 55mbps sync will be migrated to an 80/20 service.

As I said my sync speed went up to 80mb put my download speed has gone to about 40mb taken with the wholesale BT speed tester. I feel as if a cap is now on my line.

I used to have 76mb with BT and moved to 52mb for the cheaper price and always had above the max speeds.

Does the change need a period of time to train, anyone any ideas?

Post the complete BTWholesale tester result, doesn't it indicate if the speed obtained it within an acceptable range and what to do if it isn't ?
