This morning I could get on but this afternoon most of the time I can't then when I can it disconnects shortly afterwards other times connects and says no internet.
Any ideas why?

If the broadband line that the hotspot is associated with is dropping out or has poor speeds, then this will affect hotspot connectivity.0

As above many hotspots are from home broadband and don't really reach far beyond the front door .
As hotspots are wifi BT will not know the ones that are poor .0
