WattyDog would love that !Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!1 -
Septic tank has been emptied (didn't have a chance to talk to them and find out whether it was particularly full).
Need to sort out roadside recovery as the AA quote was ridiculous.
And need to get some dry kindling in, as it would be nice to have a fire this evening.
But for now I need to find some food. I bought lots, so there is plenty I could eat. Just CBA...2 -
One thing I don't miss about our doggo passing is the cold winter morning/ evening walks. 🥶
If you have TCB they have lots of cashback on there for roadside recovery!Emergency Fund- £717.771 -
I use the other cashback site DFW, but will have a proper look as it runs out at the weekend!
List for today:
Walk dog
Freeze bread and get petfood out of freezer
Clear up kitchen so I can find surfaces (deal with backlog of coffee pods that need emptying)
Run robot in sitting room
Wash some dog bedding
Empty 4 big pots on patio and replant with some of the billion bulbs I bought using old compost, bone meal, and grit... (I have tulips, alliums, narcissi, and dwarf irises to go in them, and then hopefully can replant the violas over the top).
Check which other bulbs need planting urgently and work out where they will go
Prep for 1-2-1 with ex-boss (now boss's boss) at midday (this may include having a shower and getting dressed properly...)
It looks like electricity pricing is expected to be low at the weekend, so most laundry can be put off until then.2 -
Four HUGE pots of bulbs planted up and violas reinstated on top of three, snapdragons on the fourth. Last year's two measly clumps of tulips shoved into a pot where the busy lizzies had died, and some agapanthus moved.
I need to remember my plan for the remaining bulbs (red/red & white tulips; pink & white double tulips; some aliums; two other lots of tulips that I remember nothing about...) and get them sorted out over the next week. I really need to get more vermiculite, perlite, and grit too.
I have a feeling that the last pot was started too deep, so the aliums are a bit close to the bottom, but we'll see how it goes.
Long afternoon of meetings ahead now... but I just had time for toast with goats' cheese and fig chutney. Not exactly healthy, but quick and very delicious.3 -
Looks like tomorrow will be sunny too. Stinky will be out at daycare, so the morning will probably be spent doing laundry and finding homes for more tulips and alliums. I may have accidentally ordered more narcissi too...
Really struggling with staying awake in the evenings at the moment. Luckily Stinky seems to have decide that it's bedtime, so I'll head off shortly!
I need to get kindling in tomorrow as I've got used to having a fire in the evening and miss it. And I need to sort out roadside assistance. Plus clear the landing and move stuff in the big spare room ready for builders on Thursday/Friday. Making some space in the kitchen would be nice (Stinky needs lick mats making up too) which can be achieved by planting more bulbs...3 -
AA are doing a 50% off for BF is that might help - that said I suspect it will still be substantially more than anyone else!greenbee said:Septic tank has been emptied (didn't have a chance to talk to them and find out whether it was particularly full).

Thanks EH. Definitely need homestart and onward travel is probably sensible!
I just got a very good discount on a diagnostic tool for the that my brother recommended - it means I can check what the faults are, battery health etc, and reset alerts if they're not actually real faults. Of course, he hadn't thought about a referral code and I didn't realise he could have let me have one until after I signed up... (I had to tell him where to get the Octopus referral code when I wanted one!). I may see about adding my mum's car to the diagnostics if it works well.
Stinky is at daycare (she was late because her sliding door was frozen shut, so I took him for a quick walk where he met a friend and they raced around and I got to chat with my neighbour while they had fun), and I visited a friend who is part-way through a new kitchen install (from the people I got my last one from - I've remembered why I got it from them!) to return paint sample pots and hand over a cat bed that is too big for my giant predators but should fit her tiny siamese.
Solar has filled the battery and heated the hot water and is busy exporting, so I've got a hygiene wash (40C, 3 hours) with dog bedding in it. I suspect it'll finish too late to put it through the TD on solar, and prices aren't looking great tomorrow (nor is the weather) but it should dry OK with the UFH in the utility room and go through the TD on Friday if the sun shines to get rid of the last of the dog hair. There is more stinky dog bedding to to, but it may have to wait.
Still lovely and sunny in the veg plot, but at this time of year the patio is in shade all day (as are the windows at the back) so it'll be cold and damp out there - however, I'd like to get another couple of pots of bulbs done if I can bring myself to get back out.
Robot is working away in the sitting room, and I've also brought in some kindling (apple twigs from pruning in the spring which I hope will be dry enough. Oh, and cat food delivery has been put away.3 -
One batch of dog bedding washed and dried... internal cushions from his favourite bed may have to wait until Friday. Vast amounts of dog hair removed from dryer filters...
All but one lot of tulips now planted. I'd hoped to put this lot in the ground, but the place I'd planned them for is likely to be disturbed, so I need to sort out a couple more pots. Which means getting more vermiculite/perlite/grit as the pots I'm thinking of using are currently very waterlogged!
Dark already
So dog should be home soon. Work doesn't finish until 7 tonight, and then I think it'll be time to light the fire and read a book. 6
