Wow - I'm amazed that you got through that meeting!

Having spent a late evening at the office yesterday, I've only been in since 10:30 and still nursing my coffee, attempting to feel human!  Thankfully, no meetings all day.  The 'children' in the office know I'm still annoyed about some less than professional behaviour yesterday so have left me in peace for the past hour.  I'm not going to anything to change their collective impression of my mood as quiet in this place is a rare thing! 🤣🤣🤣

I do at least have the benefit of not having to go into an office! What I do struggle with is all the meetings that get in the way of actually getting work done.

No sowing of anything here either, although we did have quite a discussion about it this morning!

I'm the opposite way with the occasion need there is for me to meet with clients - I don't tend to need rigid, structured times, so tend to give "zones" - 10am - midday or 2.30 - 4pm for example for people to come in and see me. There is one person here who absolutely demands that regardless of that not really suiting me (and frequently not suiting the clients either) I have to give a set time! It drives me mad!

Busy here - day two of moving the consumer unit from my office to the downstairs loo. Trying to trace all the circuits to separate them out logically is proving interesting. Most of the power in the house is off, and we've had periods of running off the battery, which means it's getting low (not much sun) as I forgot to switch charging from grid back on last night!).

However, very little power has also meant hardly any meetings and lots of work done this morning. Plus I stripped my bed and when my cleaner arrived we tipped the bed over, replaced the castors with the legs (took about 5 minutes, I've been putting it off for months), and turned the mattress. As there's no power she's now moving furniture to clean behind it! And the cats can now retrieve their own toys from under the bed and the robot vacuum can also get under there (so I can hoover tomorrow while I'm working given that the cleaner won't be able to today).

Much like all the internet cabling last time they were here, there won't be any obvious immediate benefit to this work, but it's well worth getting it done now rather than later.

I really WILL have to sort out the plasterer and carpet fitter now!

Plasterer is coming round tomorrow afternoon to look at what needs doing.

Electricians are almost done (the new board is up and running and the meter tails are connected so power is back on. There's a fair amount of mess and dust (my office will need emptying and deep cleaning again, but I might (if I can cope with it) wait until I'm going to have time to make good where the old consumer unit and trunking was. I suspect the weekend will involve some cleaning - at least hoovering - as I don't think I can wait until the cleaner is back next to deal with it!

So next job is lists to the builder and plumber for small jobs that I want out of the way, and then choosing carpets for the two bedrooms that are finished. And then thinking about paint colours.

Cats are starving (apparently) but there's no point in feeding them while the electricians are here, as they're in the utility room so will scare the cats away!

Fire is lit to make up for the lack of heating/open garage doors all day.

But another very big milestone out of the way. The electrics are now safe, and we have room to add more solar, more circuits, EV, heatpump or whatever else we need.

Electrical testing identified a fault, which has been made safe, and will be properly fixed when we get to that room. Solar hot water diverter is misbehaving, so I need to turn it on at 6pm and see whether it's fixed. If not, it's a warranty replacement. Stupid movement sensor in the airing cupboard which came on randomly has been replaced with a door switch - on when the door is open, off when closed. Electricians are keeping a note of small annoying jobs to include when the come to do the next big job (I've told them the diverter replacement can wait until the new panels go on, assuming G99 approval comes through... this should be soon).

Plasterer has been round and can fit me next Friday. Which means I need to make a decision on carpets and get those booked in so I can get the rooms back to normal for until the decorator comes back in May.

Orchard has been planted, fruit bushes heeled in, we just need to dig a hole for the fig tree and line it with concrete slabs next week.

Pots to go in propagator are filled. I just need to decide how many aubergines, peppers, and padron peppers I need to stick in them.

Having turned off charging from grid for the battery yesterday while we were sorting out the electrics, I forgot to switch it on. So despite carefully setting the charging times, I woke up to an empty battery. Luckily there were some cheaper slots left, so it's half charged. Lots of laundry was done overnight - I'm catching up from having the electricians in the house. And debating whether it's worth cleaning the airing cupboard when the plasterer will be in there filling holes on Friday.

I'm off to my mum's today to split logs as she's had two HUGE ash trees down, so my log splitter is over there and I need to get working on them to clear some space for her and get them all stacked properly. My brother and nephew did a lot at Christmas, but I think it's going to take a long time to get them done. I need to sort out my own log store so that the stuff that's ready for burning is accessible but I can also get in to start stacking new stuff from the back - I suspect I'll be bringing quite a bit over from my mum's :) And then I need to sort my own out (but that's all stuff that can wait and be done over the summer). Given the price of wood (and the cost of tree surgery), this lot needs to be used efficiently.

Pre-breakfast walk is done and everyone fed. I'm using the Merlin app on my walks and it's lovely to hear (and keep a record of!) so many song birds. New additions this morning were chaffinch, siskin, marsh tit and wren.

I forgot to mention the filling needed in my office to the plasterer... but as it needs a clearout to clean properly anyway, I might empty it over the course of the week and get him to do that. I'd quite like to stop having to completely empty rooms every few months!

I read your list of jobs and am exhausted - I felt delighted I'd had someone fit the new lantern in the hallway this week and that is my week house reno done!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
