I did leaves, so the carport is pretty much clear. I need to stick some more of the loft boards in the bin at some point (when I have room!) as that's the only junk in there now (well, apart from the cardboard collection currently obscuring the log store, which will be moved to the greenhouse at some point).
There's not much more left to clear from the borders on one side - so it's ready for weeding and mulching. Then the other side will need doing. Hopefully we'll get it done by spring. The grass is a mess after the snow and having to take Stinky out there. The long grass that I'd hoped to get done with the scythe is still waiting for me to find time to do it, and the slightly less long grass that needs to be done with the mower still isn't done. I really do think I need some extra time from the gardener to catch up!
There's some decent agile pricing coming up. Not negative, but nice low prices, so I need to think what I can do when. DW, WM, maybe the heated airer, maybe some towel rails - it's probably not worth it for the immersion (I have a budget setting on the system of 6p, but it didn't seem to work last we had negative pricing). I don't want to use power for the sake of it, but there is definitely some laundry waiting to be done.
Cat food making will need to wait until this evening too, as were now in peak rate time.
I guess I should put the loose covers back on the chair my mum brought over and see what it looks like. I'll also have to work out how to get the chair that needs to go back to hers moved, as it won't fit in the car with Stinky's crate!2 -
Busy day today. Happy puppy (well he was this morning) as he had playtime with a friend a visit to my mum (wasn't so keen on the car journey), had a rather longer walk than technically he should (but very slow), met another puppy (and has a potential playdate booked), came back, had lunch and has mostly slept - we've had a couple of outings into the garden for loo breaks (brief, it's raining) and I've cut back another couple of buckets of dead annuals to shove in the garden waste bin.
80l storage boxes for plant pots have arrived - one is slightly damaged, but Amazon only gives the option of returning all of them for a refund, not just getting the damaged one replaced. So I need to see whether I can fix it rather than end up having to take it to wherever the Evri drop-off is (the only option).
Lots of recycling shoved in my mum's recycling bin, so the backlog here (thanks to someone bringing my bin in last time when it hadn't been emptied and me not knowing for a couple of days) has reduced a bit.
Next week (as well as organising the fencing work), I need to clear as much as I can out of the sitting room ready for the decorator.
Cat food was cooked yesterday, so they're stocked up. Mushrooms need using up this evening, so need to think of something to make.2 -
I quite like mushroom soup for using up tired mushrooms. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I had to read your last post a few times @greenbee as I thought you'd bought 801 storage boxes which seemed excessive but realised that was an 'l' rather than a '1' 😆. Also then the issue of a box being damaged wouldn't seem such a problem if the other 800 were intact 😮1

I think I have enough stuff to fill 801 storage boxes at the moment!
I filled the two that aren't broken with plastic plant pots which has helped clear the greenhouse nicely. I should have cleaned the pots, obviously, but I'll leave than for when I'm more organised/have more time (post-retirement maybe?).
Stinky and I spent about an hour in the garden with him bringing me half-chewed apples (bet he has tummy ache later) and me cutting stuff back to fill the garden waste bin. We were stalked by the cats the entire time and apart from one bounce after Fartypants as she sniffed him and ran past him, he pretty much ignored them. I think he's scared of Fatso (given that she hisses at him constantly, it's not a huge surprise).
Some cotton doormats/runners have arrived. One is now immediately under the catflap, the other just outside the dog pen. I've also moved some doormats around - there's now a rubber one on the front doorstep (I don't like it as much as the one I had their before but I was fed up with my mum telling me it was getting damp and would rot) so the wide coir one has been dried out in the garage and is now by the kitchen door (room for my wellies to live there now as that's where Stinky and I go in and out). The door from the utility to the kitchen has a lip, so there is clearance for doormats, and I've put one either side of it. Mostly to deal with muddy cat feet, although I still expect to see pawprints on my bedding at this time of year.
Somewhere I have some gorilla glue, which I need to mend the last storage box and a table lamp that Fasto knocked over months ago. I now have somewhere to put the lamp, so I need to fix it.
Spare room drawers need lining so I can start filling them with the fabric that came out of the fitted wardrobe that was removed a couple of weeks ago.
Bins go out later, which will be nice as the recycling is almost overflowing. If tomorrow looks dry I'll stick some flattened cardboard out when we go for our morning walk.
Guess I should check some email, and then see what else needs doing before I start work.2 -
Taking tomorrow off. So the plan is to go to the CS with a carload of stuff and hope they take it.
DW needs to go off tonight despite the shocking Agile rates. Laundry is waiting for better pricing.
Stinky has had some time out of the pen tonight and is getting the hang of sleeping in a different place. He's also been sniffed by the cat who then hissed at him when he noticed. Despite the fact that all he did was look at her.3 -
That's cats for you!
HRH used to be absolutely fine with with our little spaniel most of the time, but there were just occasions every now and again when all the dog used to have to do was walk too close and there was a hissing explosion!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

There is a reason they say fighting like cat and dog.

No fighting so far @badmemory, just some negotiations! Fatso tries to boss all of us around, not just the puppy.2

CS warehouse weren't taking donations, but everything is in the car. I'll call next week and see whether things have changed. If not, I'll go into town and drop a couple of things in each CS (there are loads) to help reduce the volume of stuff.
Gardener got lots done on Friday - weeding and mulching. We're now out of compost, and the last of the fresh woodchip has been spread over the ground in the compost area as it was getting soggy. We've got four builders' bags of leaves composting, and now I need to turn the stuff in the small compost bin into the big one and start building up the supply again. I'll get the tree surgeons to leave me more chippings when they do the next lot of tree work.
Managed to get a few more things tidied up in the garden - including putting the egg chair away. I suspect there are a few other things that may blow around, but hopefully nothing that will cause any damage.
I haven't done anything about clearing the sitting room yet (needs to be done by Tuesday for the decorator) but have done some laundry and some batch cooking on cheapish electricity. It's all boxed up and ready to be frozen, including some mashed carrot and BNS for pet food. Pet fleeces have been washed and dried, dog towels have been washed and are in the TD on delay. WM is set to do a drum clean on delay which will hopefully shift the last of the dog hair so I can do a wool wash in the morning. DW is set on delay with the stuff from the cooking, so I just have some soup to prep for the SC.
Cats are not happy about the weather. Puppy is less bothered. Although it does mean the cats have been keeping him under careful observation all day as they've had nothing else to do!
It looks like the wind is going to pick up overnight, so I'm not expecting to get much sleep as it'll probably be noisy. Or the cats will be neurotic and needy.4
