Filing is done, but no sign of my passport. So need to work out where to look next.

No plugs changed either (need to find electrical screwdrivers). Only one set of shower racks up so far. But I have finally got to the dentist, and now have a hygienist appointment booked too. All overdue as it’s taken me ages to find a dentist since I moved, but should now be part of my routine.

Decorator has a spare day on Monday so is coming back to get ahead on the bedroom he spent a couple of days in last week. Scaffolding goes up on the garage next Friday, and the solar and battery goes in the following week. I’ve got a couple of days off next week and am hoping to get a bit of rest, as the weekend will be busy - carpenter here tomorrow to get on with the shed repairs, out overnight on Saturday. Gardener is here today and will be sorting out the workshop and clearing the shed, and trying not to get heatstroke! I need to swap the last couple of thermal blinds for the light filtering ones that have been delivered and start heat-proofing the house for the day.

I don't remember you saying about solar before.  I had mine done on Tuesday & my electric meter hasn't moved since.  I just need a smart meter & then fix up getting paid for what I'm exporting.  At one point yesterday we were exporting 4kw.  By the time I'm getting paid for it though it will be much less.  I am spending way too much time watching it.  Thoroughly enjoying it, especially the bit about the meter reading not having changed as we average 20 units a day normally.  I've realised I need to change some habits though, like not putting the dishwasher on in the evening.  Have you had them before?

It's great fun, isn't it?! Do you have a battery @badmemory? I can't remember if you've said. Learning to use things in parallel and watching the weather forecast is a learning a curve, but it really makes a difference 😊

Octopus are good for SEG payments, although we're not with them because of the car tariff we're on with Octopus - you can't import on our cheap overnight tariff and export (because you could take the mick and charge the battery and then export it back to them for a profit). We're with Eon and get 15p/kWh which isn't bad. Once we've sussed out what's best with our car, we may switch to Octopus though.

Yes I have 2 batteries & they are almost fully charged again this morning.  I haven't decided who to go with yet & am waiting for the paperwork anyway, so time to think.  I am with BG and they are paying 15p at the moment, so I may stick with them.  As I said we use a lot so it will be interesting to see how the colder darker months go.
They did suggest getting rid of the gas fire & having an electric one to boost the house temp free & save on the gas central heating which sounds sensible but remembering all the promised power cuts I am inclined not to do as once the batteries empty I would have no heating.

I'm already with Octopus, and already have a smart meter, so I'm hoping it'll all be straightforward!

The installer is putting in a microdiverter to the HW tank, and I have 4 electric towel rails - hopefully by the time I upgrade my white goods I'll be able to get solar-compatible smart ones! In the meantime it'll just be a case of learning new habits. Bathroom refurb plans include electric UFH, and as I upgrade the heating I'm working towards splitting the system so the wet UFH and possibly the downstairs circuit will run off a heat pump, with upstairs running off oil until the boiler packs up. I also have a new multifuel stove, so backup there for heating.

I think today's main electricity consumer is the ice-maker!

I think I need an ice maker as I had to go out this morning & nearly melted.  It may be a bit extravagant though for the twice a year I'd use it.

Sounds like you've a good system going in there Greebee!

An ice maker... I have an ice tray and a freezer?!

ETA: You don't have to be with Octopus for your SEG though - the two are independent. That said, Iwould always recommend them for their general wonderfulness...

I use the ice maker a lot! I think I'm on my third one. If there is room in the freezer I make batches and bag them up. And I always try to do that before I have lots of people over. I keep water in the fridge, but everything else gets ice in it (especially at this time of year). I know it's an extravagance, but it earns it's keep!

BF has an ice machine, which I usually scoff at, but I've definitely made use of it over the last couple of days 👍!
