Dog walked, kongs done, stuff put away.
Plumber turned up at 10ish and then disappeared for an appointment so won't be back before midday at a guess. And therefore won't be finishing the work today... and has a full day job tomorrow (I was under the impression that he had a full day job here yesterday and today TBH). He'll come back on Saturday, which means it will be done, but doesn't help my stress/exhaustion or give me much time to clear up after him and prep for the decorator.
I need to remember that it'll be over soon (and then I have to go to my mum's to help her clear up for the decorator and afterwards put everything back!).5 -
Tipping with rain, so the gardener is doing inside jobs. So far all the curtain tie-back hooks have been installed. Hopefully that means a tiny bit more light making it into the house!
A mirror and a picture are going up that I can't do myself, and then all the shower/bath/basin sealant will be checked and redone if necessary. It's unlikely that it'll stop raining, so I don't expect any of the outside jobs to be done. But at least he's not sitting at home unpaid, and I'm getting things done that need doing.7 -

Your gardener sounds great - I sometimes think I could use a handyman to get rid of some of our ridiculously long list of "nice to have but not vital" fixes.2

It's a massive help dealing with some of the small and annoying things that need doing.edinburgher said:Your gardener sounds great - I sometimes think I could use a handyman to get rid of some of our ridiculously long list of "nice to have but not vital" fixes.4 -
Sealant all done bar one lot that really needs clear or dark (personally I think clear), and have identified something that needs a tiny bit of grout that we can darken with paint. So a couple of things back on the inside list.
Plumber was due to come at midday(ish). I walked the dog, dropping off the keys on the way, went to the supermarket and then family came over for coffee and we drove to the coast for lunch. Dog was good while we ate, and very happy with a walk over the marshes towards the beach - we didn't get to the beach as we were running a bit later.
Back home - plumber still here. Cameras say he turned up around 13.30. When we got back he still had two rooms to reconnect to the new 22mm pipework, the new radiator to connect, the downstairs radiator to swap out, and the system to repressurize. As he has the windows open it's freezing - so I hope he gets the heating and hot water up and running before he goes as it'll take a long time to get the house back up to temperature. I've fed the dog and cats (dog isn't tired - I think he recharged on the drive home), lit the fire, and shut the doors to the rest of the house (there's still a freezing draught), and am watching rubbish online.
Not the way I wanted to be spending my Saturday evening. Probably not how he wanted to spend his, but I'm still cross about it. Tomorrow is going to involve cleaning up, clearing the hall for the decorator and attempting to shift a bit more stuff back into my bedroom.
I really hope I can clear some of the stuff off my list before my hospital trip. Including planting the honeysuckle, roses, and comfrey that all need dealing with. Actually, if I don't get them in the ground tomorrow I should probably put them in the garage as temperatures are going to drop.5 -
Oh dear - I honestly thought it was yesterday!!! Somehow in my head you had sent Stinky to the doggie daycare for just that reason!greenbee said:

Stinky LOVES daycare, but mostly I only let him go once a week. He'd probably quite like to go to boarding school full-time...
Still waiting for the plumber to finish... It's cold and draughty in here even with the fire going. I must remember to stock up the log baskets tomorrow (although the decorator doesn't generally make the house quite this cold).2 -
