Damp and miserable outside here, although it looks like there’s a bit of sun breaking through the cloud. I need to drag myself out of hibernation as I have to clear the landing today, and the dog needs a walk soon. Not feeling hugely motivated to do either. Or work. Hibernation seems like a nice option.5

Oh heck I am SO with you about just wanting to hibernate now it's all dark/damp/chilly! I'm currently trying to avoid talking myself out of deciding to go out this evening - I know I will enjoy it once I'm there, it's just the thought of having to get home, then go out again...gah!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Landing was cleared this morning and the carpet is now in the garage while the underlay has been disposed of. Electricians are coming tomorrow afternoon - hopefully the floor will be up by then.
Should be finished by Friday. Handyman/gardener should be coming then - I need to make an indoor list and an outdoor list. Indoor list involves me making decisions on where I want the curtain tie-backs and making a list of places that need sealant redoing. And remembering the other stuff that needs dealing with.
Decorator will be done next week, and the bathroom back together the week after. Not sure when the carpet will go down - it depends on the state the floor is in after the plumber has been. If it's OK then I'll try to get it done before the decorator starts painting. If it's not then it won't be until the first week in December.
I have masses of bulbs arriving soon, and some roses. And a lot to do in the veg plot.4 -
Dog has gone off to daycare (he gets back around sunset, so quite early now!) and was very, very excited about spending the day with all his friends.
Plumber isn't here yet. I do need to take down a blind, move some things off the windowsill, and take the lampshades down. And then move some stuff in the hall - but most of it can wait until the weekend as it's the decorator who needs it moved, not the plumber or electrician.
Was woken up this morning by Stripey cat pinging the wire on the back of a picture. She then chewed it, and finally pulled it over on top of herself and scared herself and Fatty. So got up and let them all out. I clearly need ot get the pictures on the walls!
But first of all I need to get the washing up done, and set the robot off to clean the sitting room. I'm trying to get into the habit of doing that daily so that at least one room is (relatively) dog-hair free.4 -
Getting pictures on walls has been on my to do list for the last two years greenbee - we have some up, but nowhere near all. I should probably add that to my O.A.T. list from the other thread!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Definitely an OAT. I have more to do (and more picture hooks to buy) but they are less likely to be damaged once on the walls. And also there is no point having them if they're not on display. The bedroom looks better already.EssexHebridean said:Getting pictures on walls has been on my to do list for the last two years greenbee - we have some up, but nowhere near all. A neighour has brought over all her paint samples, so I can spent some time painting bits of paper to try different colours. And can now order my sample selection. She's also agreed to do cat feeding while I'm away for hospital.3 -
It is even easier if you don't have any pictures to put on the walls. Hangover of the ex-H who used to run his finger over the top of them for dust, which he never found. But no-one ever will now. It didn't even dawn on me for years until a friend asked why I didn't even have a mirror.1

@badmemory - if the OH ever did that in our house, I'd hand him a micro-fibre duster and tell him to get on with it 😝🤣 - and besides if we were completely dust free, there would be no dancing pixie dust on the odd day we have sunshine! 🧚♂️🧚♀️4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! No one to criticise my cleaning here, but I'm utterly fed up with the dust and mess from the work today already. And it's clearly going to run over.
However, the hall lights work and the bathroom lampshade is up and looks perfect. Hopefully it'll all be back to normal by the time I go in to hospital. Dog is booked in and cat sitting is booked too - I'm just waiting to hear from a friend whether her husband can pick up the kids from school, in which case I will drive to hers, get the train down, and she'll pick me up and take me home and I'll stay with them until I can drive home.
Dog lick mats all made up, and slowly freezing. I need to pot up the rest of the squash and then I can do the kongs (and the two lick mats that need washing up tomorrow). And just make it through to the weekend when I can try to clear up the mess ready for the decorator. At least then it'll be tidy for a bit, even if it'll be a while before the landing carpet goes back down and things can go back together properly.
Work is busy... hoping stuff will actually start happening rather than being talked about. Need to remind my boss that he was supposed to be putting a meeting in the calendar to let everyone know about a reorg before it happens. Assuming he's finalised what he's going to do.
Fire is lit, dog is asleep next door, cats are asleep upstairs, so I may well have a bath and an early night!3
