Oh - forgot to say that I did squeeze in time to renew my breakdown insurance. I was going to chop and change each year to get a cashback deal and get the amount down to what I consider reasonable, but I rang them to cancel and I explained it is cheaper for me to change to their main competitor as I would be a new customer and then could use TopCashback. They then magically reduced my fee to basically the same amount so I would stay with them.

I hate this sort of stuff as it suggests that if they do it that easily, we are all being screwed. I did find it interesting though that they matched the cashback offer. I understand when they match other people's prices. Maybe things have moved on a bit and so many people use them these days - I just don't have the sort of things you need to ring up and negotiate on very often. Anyway.. thought it might be useful info.

Not adding this to my total as it actually doesn't come out till November and technically I had only budgeted for this smaller amount anyway!

Thank you so much for posting this Queen Jess, I got an email the other day to say my home insurance will renew soon. The last few years I've just let it renew as it's been good value, but this year I thought I would maybe need to switch, and on my first price comparison site, I've found one quote which is more than 60% cheaper!

Logged off app now won't log me back in. Tried new password but same. Is OnePulse a scam?

No its not. I don't recommend logging out as I always have trouble when I do that.

And that's my £300 monthly target smashed again. I'm going to make an incredibly ambitious (for me!) new target of £500 just for October.
    Brilliant - well done

I have upped your target on the list of challengers and good luck with your new target :D

Fantastic savings - great to read

It's always worth a quick check around on any yearly renewals, that's where you can often find they are trying to steam automatic renewals.

Oh no !!! That's ages to wait - poor you (hugs)

I hope they get it sorted permanently this time. If it was me I would be really  Do you think it's worth going for some hefty compensation on grounds of lost income ??

  • Busy day for me today, work and a family birthday meant there wasn't much time to focus on extra money-making. Not that it's a bad thing, I think we all need a day off once in a while!

That said, still found time for a few pennies.

Some years ago, I lent a friend some money. This month she paid it back, plus some extra as a thank you. Can I add that extra bit to my total?

I notice it's that time of year again when Innocent Smoothies sell them with little hats on for charity. Yes I know they are expensive, but I treated myself... It means I now have a couple of hats that clearly I'm never going to use, but I hate to bin anything. I notice people are selling on eBay, but I feel a bit bad doing that and keeping the cash - has anyone used the charity option in eBay with success?

I made a big sale on eBay last night of about £100. Need to post though so will confirm the final amount once I have posted. Was going to do it today, but probably tomorrow now as I have a sicky baby to deal with.

Well done on everyone for your money making. Long may it continue!

No problem! I know you are always mean to check and then ring up your existing provider and intend to leave, but see if they will match etc etc. I do it for car insurance each year, but hate having to do it. It all seems like a lot of time to spend when they clearly all just have high amount hoping people auto renew. I think that's why I hate insurance.. all seems like a big con! Who is buying loyalty exactly?!

Actually reminds me that for various reasons I decided to change my bank after using the same one for 20 odd years. I tried to change it to one provider and they made it so difficult for me that I told them to forget it and decided to use someone else instead. Who is willing to wait 2 weeks for an appointment to open an account?! Particularly as I have other accounts with them so they know all about me already and everything in credit. Ughh... where's the customer service these days? This is why I switched my broadband even if it isn't the cheapest, I know I can ring them up any time and have a sensible conversation and get things sorted. Ok... rant over...:rotfl:

Being able to phone up and get things sorted out easily is worth paying a bit more for in my book. I switched to my current bank to get the money for switching, and although I could get more if I switch again, their customer service is so good I don't want to move!

Its always worth asking right? I wonder if they will get out of it by saying it wasn't their fault and was BT's therefore they don't have to do anything?
