Re I ain't at all techy so don't laugh at me :o but do IP addresses not change?

I'm not very techy either, but I think your IP address remains the same for a while eg until you reboot your hub. I did some web programming about 10 years ago and know that I could read the users IP address as well as the form data that they filled in and submitted.

So if the middleman just goes to the same competition page 10 times in a row to enter for 10 different paying-customers, then the webpage owner should be able to detect that the same IP address has been used for 10 different people's details. Therefore they would know that something odd (script/robotic) is going on.

Maybe someone more techy can confirm if this is the case, or how easy it is to hide/change an IP address.

Easy to rotate/hide the IP address and of course there is a premium service which needs remote access to your PC and then uses it to enter so the IP address is the correct one for every person entering.
So there was no proof that I had been entered into anything at all.

Depending on the site now you can log into your account which has a record of the competitions you have been entered into and you can pay less than £1 a week so it doesn't take much of a win to cover a years costs.
