I want to win....

Your right it is paying for a chance to win something, whether it be competitions or the lottery with no effort whatsoever.
So where we are at least trying and making some effort and call this our "hobby" those who pay for the lottery and to enter competitions must just be "gamblers" having a bet.
Does that sound right?
Yep, spot on.0 -
It would be very interesting to hear from someone who has paid to enter competitions to see how it all works/if they won anything/was it worth it ect“I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.” - Billy Joel

Another vote for DIY here. My policy is never to pay to enter any competition (other than paying for the broadband connection which we have for other reasons anyway).
re the point "How does the person running the competition know it has been entered by a third party and not an individual?"... I think the competition organiser would be able to detect multiple entries from the same computer by checking the IP address. So paying a middleman to enter for you probably disqualifies you because your name and details are being uploaded from the same IP address as those of all the other people who paid the middleman to enter for them. ?
I paid for 3 bottles of wine to enter a competition, but I think that was a win win situation.
I know what you mean though this is my "free" hobby
I ain't at all techy so don't laugh at mebut do IP addresses not change?

Yep, that's the way I think of it.0 -
I sort of agree with what you said. But, paying somebody to do competitions would take away the fun it would no longer be interesting.0

But, how do I even when. How does competitions work. I’m really new to this. I saw a story Pip who wins free trips and money from competitions time and wanted head over and check it out.

Click on the link below, have a good read of that, then be prepared to spend hours and hours every day entering hundreds, if not thousands of competitions. If you are lucky, you may win a trip away. If not, you could not win anything all year.

Many, many years ago when I was young and naive, I signed up to one of these services. We didn't have a computer at the time, so I thought it was a good idea. I could do the comps on products etc, and they would do the internet ones.
Needless to say, after a year, I had won a big fat zero. The company said in the initial blurb that if I hadn't won anything in the year, I would get my money back - it never happened! I didn't even get any 'sorry you didn't win, but here's a voucher' type of letters. So there was no proof that I had been entered into anything at all.
I would've been better off saving the money and putting it towards a computer! Now I'm a devout D.I.Yer - lesson learned.0 -
