House next door up for rent

So just discovered the house next door to the one I have offered on is up for rent. Oddly the for rent sign disappeared when house next door went up for sale.

Now I know most tenants are considerate, lived next door to a lovely one for 5 years. But some are not. And I hate noise. The house has been on the market 7 weeks and doesn't specify no DSS or pets. I am guessing it may go to sharers. Agggghhhhhhhh...........

    Bad idea - some young bullocks can be very inconsiderate neighbours.

    The "trouble" with renters tends to be that they've no idea of any rules, covenants, restrictions .... and do tend to do "what they want" a bit more as they've no interest whatsoever in "house values" and didn't think/know there were any rules.... like the last lot that rocked up here "one parking space" (no visitor parking spaces at all) ... and they rocked up with three vehicles and said "Oh, we thought we could just stick the others around where we fancied"

    If you have a good renter, fine, but a renter's more likely to have "no vested interest in the house, garden environs, community" as they don't see it as their settled home.

    Yes there are good/bad in both camps .... but if you actually did a head-count I bet the renters would have more bad apples in the cart...

    Why would the advert specify no DSS when the Department for Social Security was dissolved in 2001?
  • Most of the houses in my cul-de-sac are rented. I've had owners and renters living next door to me and to be honest, the renters were more considerate and respectful than a couple of owners who lived next door.
    Debt 30k in 2008.:eek::o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free :)
    Mortgage free since 2014 :)

    No idea why ads say no DSS but they do.
    I have had 2 bad neighbours in the past, one rented one owned so yeah it's a lottery. The really annoying part is I like the rrented property far more.

    Simple isn't it. Just rent it out yourself and leave it empty. Then no undesirables can move in. Actually, just buy the whole street.

  • They won't be DSS, promise. DSS was dissolved 2001.

    They might be in receipt of HB/LHA mind. Can you imagine, MOST adults in UK are on benefits -. good luck find somewhere not next to a benefit-taker.
