Monarch in trouble again...

I have seen some of the hot meals airlines charge £8 for and I rather get 2 sandwich meal deals for the same price. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

For those flying back with an alternative company the CAA have organised- would the passengers be forced to use that carrier's luggage restrictions?
Monarch had 20kg hold and 10kg hand luggage allowance. If the alternative only allowed 7kg for hand luggage and theirs weighed 9kg, would the passengers be forced to put that bag into the hold?
Interesting question and one I haven't seen an answer to anywhere. If you are in this situation please report back.
If the alternative flight is one that is laid on especially by the CAA, I can't see why there would be any change in restrictions. The new carrier would be running a flight under their livery chartered by the CAA, as opposed to running their own services.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Exactly what we are doing. :rotfl:
Cheapskate or money saver?
In fact, the only thing which isn't yet packed, are the butties, (we're not posh enuff to call them sandwiches).
Or rich enough, either. It's a trip on very tight budgets. You don't need to be rich to have enjoyable experiences?
Can't say I'm looking forward to having already stressed pilots stressed with tax returns, though.
Ah well, at least all we stand to lose at this late stage, is our trip and probably the cost of the (very) cheap flights.Fred - Where's your get up and go?
Barney - It just got up and went.

What do you do for the return flight? I have made cobs from the hotel breakfast buffet as there are bread, cold meats and cheeses there. Plus I take a Danish pastry.
I buy sandwich meal deal as the cost of the drinks are expensive. For the extra cost of £1-£1.50, I get a sandwichThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Why can't you make your own sandwiches? (You could make some for your wife at the same time...)

Almost always if we are travelling short haul.My friend got her sandwiches confiscated as had a bit of pickle in them - which in the eyes of the security is a liquid.
She must have had a lot of pickle in them. You are allowed up to 100ml.
Pickle, mayonnaise, hummus, jam etc. We've never had a problem.jackieblack wrote: »Why can't you make your own sandwiches? (You could make some for your wife at the same time...)
 I suppose I could... if she was ill or otherwise incapacitated. They wouldn't be as good though.0
