Nothing about default on credit report but not paid a thing to orange for yrs.
My mistake copying it. That was last updated date
Date opened says 19/01/20010 -
You say no payment to Orange, have you made payments via another source e.g. a debt company. Just it has gone from 243 down to 171, so payments at some point have been made0

Not made a payment to anyone, was totally unaware of this until capquest contacted me offering the reduced payment . On their records I owe £171 and made reduction to £60 to clear debt but on Experian and clearscore it says the debt is £243 and not defaulted. Goes back years with every month having a green tick showing its up to date and no late payments but amount stays the same every month. It's very odd0

If you have genuinely not made a payment towards this debt or acknowledged it for 6 years - write back to Capquest and state as far as you are concerned the debt is Statute Barred. They've likely bought the debt for a quid and fancy having a go and see if you'll pay it.
Can I just ask that initial copy/paste with the date of 17/09/2017 have Capquest lodged this account as open/default on a new record on your credit file? If Orange's initial record has disappeared (as it's been 6yrs) and then Capquest have just slapped it back on you need write back and ask they remove it immediately or you'll be filing a complaint with the ICO.0 -
There is no mention of capquest on the clear score or experian report. It only mentions orange. What kinda wording do I use. It seems on the report that orange still have this as a live and non defaulted account0

Cap-quest mange debts on clients behalf, so the debt will still be owned by Orange.
If your dates are correct, and your sure no money has changed hands for at least 6 years, then write back to Cap-quest, CC in a copy to Orange also, informing them the debt is statute barred, and they should desist with collection activity.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Just had an email back from orange.
Here is their reply
I understand you have received a letter from CapQuest requesting payment for an Orange account in your name. This account was sold to Arrow Global on 12/02/2013. They are now the data controllers of the account and we can’t discuss anything in relation to the account. We also no longer have visibility of the information shown on your credit file. If you have any questions about the account, please contact CapQuest. They should be able to help you and if there are any queries surrounding the information, they will contact us directly on your behalf.
Does this change the situation at all?
What should my next move be
Thanks0 -
Orange could confirm the last payment made to them and the date, or even provide a copy of the last statement. As it's sold on they can't discuss anything about the current status or the credit file. As has been said a stat barred letter to Cap Quest is your next step.0

Thanks, is there a template letter or particular wording you could advise me on for the letter.
