Nationwide refer a friend confusion

Sorry I have searched and can't find the answer.

My son wants to open a Nationwide Flexdirect and switch a 'dummy' account with 2 DD.

I will refer him.

Does he open the Flexdirect through my referral link/code
or
does he open the FlexDirect first and initiate the swithch through my referral code/link

He opens the account first then chooses to switch. Once the switch is underway he will receive a txt with a code which is what he puts onto your link form.
    I found it confusing too!

    1) You fill in the referral and wait for them to send you the link.

    2) He opens account and initiates switch.

    3) NW will send email with switch reference number.

    4) He uses referral link and fills in form with switch reference.

    5) Profit!

Yes, especially because in the previous version of the scheme it worked the other way!

    Done it 5 times now

Oh, forgot to mention all the switch emails landed in my spam folder, so get him to check that if he's not getting any!

    Hi,

Is the switch code and switching reference number the same then?

I am confused as well. My OH has switched and has a switching reference number when he completed. Is that the switch code then?

    Many thanks

The switch code starts with FSW - after he has confirmation of the switch going ahead on x date he should get an email with the switch code. If he doesn't or gets impatient he can call nationwide directly and they can provide it too him.

They're quite easy to get hold of and you shouldn't get banded about to get the code.

I'm gutted reading this as I got my Nationwide account at the end of last year and only managed to find one person to refer to switch before this month, so ended up missing out on £400!

Hopefully I'll have better luck between now and next April by referring enough people to make a full £500. :)
