Ghost perfume doesn't last long on skin

I recently opened a bottle of ghost moonlight perfume that I got for half price in January. The bottle and scent are really nice but I'm lucky if the scent lasts for half an hour after applying. I don't like body lotions or creams. It was a 75 Mil bottle that I got for £20 in superdrug. I wish I would have bought the 100 Mil eternity moment for the same price now.

But can others still smell it on you?

Your nose can get used to using just one perfume very quickly, so you cannot smell it but others can. If your skin is on the dry skin then it just eats perfume. Hence you really need to moisturise and exfoliate your body.

It might be a light fragrance and the moonlight sort of makes me think that.

Having liked the original Ghost perfume, I bought bottles of various ones in the Boots and Tesco after Christmas sales and did note that there is a huge variation in the 'lasting' time for each. The stronger ones seem to last longer.

When testing some in Boots, I noticed that the Moonlight one wasn't very strong then and they always seem to have testers, that are stronger than the product you buy. The strongest for me are Deep Night (my favourite) and Eclipse (co-incidentally in the same shaped bottle; moon).

Lidl do some nice mocks under the Suddenly label and they seem to last quite well. At the moment I have Woman1,which my daughter-in-law recognised as Chanel no 5 , of which she has the genuine article.

was it eau de toilette or eau de parfum? I find eau de toilette never lasts long on my skin

OP if you can still smell your own fragrance half an hour after applying it, you are wearing too much and it's more than likely people are too polite to say anything.

Ask if people around you can still smell anything- not 10 feet away but if they stand right up close to you (remember, not everyone likes the same fragrances and applying a heavy amount of perfume can go two ways for this reason! Hence only needing those up close to you to be able to tell you are wearing anything at all).

Other than this, if you have done all the checks and no one can tell you are wearing anything, take with you a small atomiser and apply throughout the day, however remember that there is such as thing as too much perfume and as someone who uses public transport a lot, I can say this can feel just as suffocating on people as someone with B.O, please bare this in mind!
  • As a previous poster said, at £20 a bottle I would assume this is eau de toilette which just doesn't last that well. You need to spend more money.
