Amazon CC (New Day) Buyer Beware!

I applied for an Amazon (New Day) credit card on 21 August 2017 and immediately set up a Direct Debit through my New Day online account. I am reliably informed Direct Debit's usually take between one and two weeks (max) to set up.
A few days back my Amazon credit card was declined and have since learned the reason was non-payment. I have been informed by New Day's customer serivce I will be charged £12 for this late/non-payment.
According to New Day's customer service, it can take up to six weeks to process a Direct Debit.
Unlike other credit card services, I've received no email’s or notification a payment was due or not paid.
According to Money saving expert, in 2016, New Day offered compensation (around £4million) to more than 180,000 credit card customers (3% of its customer base) for unfair additional charges.
New Day statement: "some cardholders had been charged fees they did not anticipate or which were not clearly understood. These fees should no longer be charged. We are planning to set up tailored alerts to help customers avoid incurring fees by making prompt payments".
My question is this. What can be done to warn others about this scam and how can I get my money back and repair my credit score? Despite all the promises, it appears New Day is up to its old tricks. Buyer beware?

It's not a scam. Whoever told you it would take a week was lying to you.
The DD not only needs to be set up, but also need to inform you via the statement when and how much the payment will be.
The change in multiple fee charging is irrelevant.0 -
did you receive a statement (either in the post or online)?
this would generally confirm whether the payment was going to be collected by direct debit...if not stated then you would need to make a manual payment.
What date was the payment due? Did you notice that the funds had not left your account?0 -
It's constructive because it's correct.
Would you rather I will told you that you were correct even though you're not? No card company will breach regulations simply to set your DD up faster.
If you only want answers that agree with you, please state this at the start of your post.0 -

As I said, I did not receive any reminder by email or post. My complaint is the time it took to set up a Direct Debit (five weeks in my case) and that I was not made aware of the fact. I also refer back to 2016 When New Day said it would abide by the rules set out by the Financial Conduct Authority. If this is not a scam (as some would suggest), it's a warning to others.0 -
No scam there, who informed you it would between 1 and 2 weeks ?0

Whose side are you on?0 -
The side of understanding and clarity. Apologies if we are diametrically opposed.0

I took out an Amazon Newday card, a few months ago, and have no such problem.
I always, always, ALWAYS check that the first DD payment has been made. If it hasn't I pay it myself.0
