Hi i have a new claim for JSA and have only signed on once and at my last appointment the advisor mentioned in passing about a job fair, that was it just a quick mention, nothing was agreed to ..This morning i've received a text saying please attend your slot at the job fair or you will lose benefit!....what slot?how is the best way to handle this as i obviously don't want to lose benefit

He only mentioned it in passing though and i certainly didnt agree to a timeslot as its right when i need to get back to my kids coming home from school..i'm due to go onto income support in 4 weeks as I'm 25 weeks pregnant..could a jsa sanction affect my income support?0

Then go earlier! They will not object to you being there early, showing some initiative is a good thing.0 -
I agree, just go earlier, at least then you will be able to justify why you did so. You don't really need to book a specific slot at a job fair, it's usually just a group of employers in a room with their stalls set out showing what they do.Overactively underachieving for almost half a century0

Ring them.
Our daughter briefly signed on when she left college and could not get a job.
She got a letter saying her JSA had been stopped because she had not attended an appointment.
They said they had sent her a text but she never received one.
They refused to say what number they sent it to but that is another story!0 -
In and out in 5 minutes, grab as many free pens and leaflets as you can on the way round.
You will have proof of attendance and the Jobcentre will be happy.
You do not have to sign in or out, so Jobcentre will have no idea when you attended or how long you were there.Never Knowingly Understood.
