trying to install an old version of flash player on an old Mac

OK, try https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/

That is the official flash player download page and the Mac OSX Version suits all from 10.6 (Snow Leopard released 2009) to 10.12. There is a Safari version and one for for Opera/Chrome. If your machine is from before 2009 you might struggle.

Then it'll be able to run on at least OSX 10.6 - we've established your computer isn't way too old, so now, what about your OS? If you don't know, click on the Apple logo at the top left of the screen, click 'About this Mac' and let us know what OSX you're on...
