trying to install an old version of flash player on an old Mac

I have an old Mac computer and am attempting to install FlashPlayer on it. Correct version (we think!) has been downloaded and is sitting in the downloads folder but we need to somehow get it to work. Any ideas?

playerglobal22_0.swc
playerglobal20_0.swc
playerglobal10_1.swc

..are the versions we've downloaded. I would like to install it on Opera (Version: 25.0.1614.68) if possible.

you need to run the file.....not just download it ;)
    ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

Yes, the trouble is, we don't know where the file actually is, or how to get it to run..

Clicking on one of the downloads brings up the message:

There is no default application specified to open the document playerglobal22_0.swc

and all you can do is click on 'OK'

What do you mean by 'old Mac' - they've been making them for, like, 30 years!
Are you on OSX, macOS? OS9 or below?!
Where are you downloading these old versions of Flash from?
Are you aware of the security risks of using old versions of Flash?
Anyway - .swc isn't an OSX app that would run on any half modern Mac. You're looking for a .dmg image or something. Anyway, let us know what computer you have, what OS version you're running, and I'll have a go!

.swc files do not contain the Flash Player. They are developer files containing components of Adobe software and can only be opened by existing Adobe installations.
    Try this:- https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/flash-player/kb/enabling-flash-player-opera.html

    So to answer your questions

    OSX (10.6.8)

I think we got them from the adobe site, but I'll ask OH when he gets in!

I just want videos to play on my Opera browser. I keep getting the message that I need to install Flashplayer. Am very careful where I download things from after getting a particularly nasty bit of malware recently which was very difficult to remove.

So not that old at all then. You want to be running the most up to date version of it as you can, going along with datostar's advise.

Just me I expect but what's the point in enabling something that's not installed ?

I think we must have a different version of Opera - ours looks quite different to that in the page you linked to, and doesn't have those options. We have Opera 25.0 ?
