Thank you for all the replies I know complaining at the moment won't get my money back right away, but I want to let them know it's not ok. The fact I called store and other number no one could help me and at the end of the month when every penny is accounted for is hard! KeithP if you cared to read my post properly u would have seen that I was using the small amount of change I did have for essentials so ur comment isn't helpful, but as marktheshark has pointed out most people will think I'm just moaning. Myself and my partner both have FullTime jobs but after mortgage, nursery fees and essential bills not a lot left in the pot for food, this is why I budget carefully to plan meals and why I feel so helpless at Asda's lack of support. Peachy price I called bank and fingers crossed it should be in account tomorrow, thank you! Next time someone asks for advice please try to be a little less judgmental about the person behind the post. I will be deleting my forum account as I don't think I will be asking for any sort of advice from this forum again.
Thank you for all that didn't judge me and shame on you for the poster's who were a little too smug with their replies, I hope you never have to feel the way I did yesterday.
You probably won't appreciate this advice but you really need to head to the debt free wannabe section of this site and post an SOA (statement of affairs) which is basically a monthly budget. You can then look at where your money is going and see where savings can be made so you can start building up an emergency fund.
Even just applying for a credit card for emergencies could help in situations like this where you could have used that for shopping and paid it off when you got the money back.
If you decide to never come back to this forum you will be shooting yourself in the foot and your financial situation is less likely to improve.0 -
Thanks takman, the only debt I have is my mortgage. I budget, I know where every penny goes and try to cut costs monthly, always call companies for better deals etc.. I will think about a low limit credit card for future. I have seen people in really bad debt and I am determined not to follow if we need something we will leave money aside each month until we can purchase it. The only monthly savings that I can afford to contribute to is my kids savings accounts. I will have a look around the site to see if I can save on monthly out goings more. Will leave the posting to others0

Any suggestions would be great thank you!
Should of gone to Tesco
I guess you have no family close by or a kind neighbor who could loan you a tenner, but look on the bright side you can drink all the council pop (tap water) you like, and still have roughly 21 days

It's lovely that your saving for your children's future but you should really put a hold on it until you have a savings safety net for the family in place first. Having less stressed parents will be worth having a few pounds less in the future for them. There are lots of worthwhile parts of these boards you could use to help - offers on shopping, deals with household bills, cheap recipe ideas - there are countless members here who are in the same situation as you and will gladly offer helpful ideas.0 -

I dont think many people on here can visualise the poverty of having children and no food.
To them, you are just moaning, they dont know what it is like to be hungry.
People these days don't know what poverty and hungry means! Think back 70 years when we had people starving to death in concentration camps! They typically lasted a few weeks on minimal food and hard labour!
I'm not saying its ideal, and we aren't anywhere near those sort of conditions, but food is soooooo readily available these days! Options include:
1. Friends/family
2. Food banks
3. Borrowing money
4. Being thrifty/begging (believe it or not but you can still buy a loaf of bread for 50p or less these days! You can also buy the odd fresh veg for 30p or less in the bargain bin too!)
Also bear in mind that OP has access to a computer (posting on here and making an order online, very likely that they have their own personal computer which could be sold at a push!) + internet subscription. Fair bit of disposable income right there.
Instead of "hitting their social media accounts" OP should probably cancel their internet subscription so that they have an extra £x buffer per month to buy the kids some food0 -

Credit cards are really only bad if you're not paying off the balance. Providing you pay it in full by the due date, you won't even pay any interest on it. It can help not only in situations like this but also if you have unexpected costs (maybe replacing something that broke) as you'll usually have 4-8 weeks before it needs to be paid/starts accumulating interest.
As an aside, I know you didn't appreciate some of the comments but try and take a step back. Some of them made valid points. It doesn't help for now I know, but perhaps buy one extra item a week and in a few months, you'll have amassed enough to never have to worry about inadvertently being caught out. It was just the done thing when I was growing up - along with always making sure you have butter, flour, eggs, milk, bread, rice & a few other bits n pieces (those ingredients form the base of a lot of dishes). But when I was growing up, there was one supermarket and they used to shut for 1-2 weeks over xmas & new year so you had to make do.You keep using that word.
