Asda technical glitch

Hi
First time post. I'm looking for help really. Asda had a nation wide technical glitch and cancelled my online order but took my money and placed it into a holding account. They said that it will take a couple of days to go back into my account but it has now left me short and can't pay for my shopping, I have two young kids and no other way of paying for a full shop. I am now going to use the money I have for essentials for tonight and in the morning. I have spoken to manager at store who can't do anything and the 0800 number on my email. The only thing I can get is a £15 online voucher which I can't use until I spend over £40! I asked manager at store other than Asda who can I complain to for example a consumer group but she didn't know and is getting back to me tomorrow! Do any of you have any ideas who we all should be complaining to, I say we as I'm not the only person affected!
Any suggestions would be great thank you!

Honestly complaining won't get your money back any faster. If there has been a glitch it is unfortunate but it can happen, right now the money is in limbo waiting to clear in their account. They can't refund it until they actually receive it and the whole process can take a few days, even complaining to your bank won't get the money back sooner. It sounds like they are on top of the situation and dealing with it as quick as they can.0

A big bag of carrots to make roasted carrot soup and toast. Yum. And less than £1.50 to feed 4 people!
Or go see your local foodbank if desperate and borrow some food?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Love carrot soup!
If OP needs a foodbank they'll need to get a referral. This can be from a GP, social services, the council, CAB (and other places, depending on the area).
If OP has a gurdwara in their area they will more than likely offer them a cooked meal also.0 -
Hit their social media accounts.
I dont think many people on here can visualise the poverty of having children and no food.
To them, you are just moaning, they dont know what it is like to be hungry.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
Unfortunately this is a time old problem with Asda's online system.
The quickest way to get your money released is to call your bank in the morning, they may try to tell you that you'll just have to wait and that they can't release your money, but they can. If you get knocked back ask to speak to someone higher or call back and hope you get someone else who is more helpful.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

^^
Yes lots of people will be effected but not many of them to the extent you are, make sure they are aware of this.
A lesson for future where possible always pay by cash as you will always get computer glitches like this, to most of us they are just a minor annoyance and don't stop our daily living to those they effect badly, better to avoid potentially putting yourself in that situation.0 -
How does OP do an online shop and pay by cash?
(You're assuming the OP has the means and support network to allow her to go to the nearest Asda [or other major supermarket] to do a big shop. Whilst it's not usually an issue, for some people it can be).0 -

Of course it does depend on where you live but when I was in the OPs situation I would walk to the shop and back just so I could use cash. The shop was about a mile and half away so not that far but I would have walked further if necessary.
I have been where the OP is, if my weekly shopping money went 'missing' we would not eat so I took precautions to try to prevent that.0 -
Thank you for all the replies I know complaining at the moment won't get my money back right away, but I want to let them know it's not ok. The fact I called store and other number no one could help me and at the end of the month when every penny is accounted for is hard! KeithP if you cared to read my post properly u would have seen that I was using the small amount of change I did have for essentials so ur comment isn't helpful, but as marktheshark has pointed out most people will think I'm just moaning. Myself and my partner both have FullTime jobs but after mortgage, nursery fees and essential bills not a lot left in the pot for food, this is why I budget carefully to plan meals and why I feel so helpless at Asda's lack of support. Peachy price I called bank and fingers crossed it should be in account tomorrow, thank you! Next time someone asks for advice please try to be a little less judgmental about the person behind the post. I will be deleting my forum account as I don't think I will be asking for any sort of advice from this forum again.
Thank you for all that didn't judge me and shame on you for the poster's who were a little too smug with their replies, I hope you never have to feel the way I did yesterday.0
