Hi forum community. The wife is looking at buying a Range Rover Evoque. Undecided on fuel type as yet. Would you know of any major issues as to the car or whether it is reliable? Thanks in advance

It's a lot closer to the bottom than the top of the Autoexpress reliability index.

I'm going to say no.....
My folks had one, it spent 6 months going back for "updates" that did not fix the loss of power issue caused by the auto gearbox, eventually they were offered a new one for £5000, which they stupidly accepted and this one has barely been used as my father had to give up his licence on medical grounds.
They've also had a number of (attempted and successful) break-ins, with thieves trying to find the keys, they refuse to park it in their otherwise empty garage and think that CCTV is going to stop thugs in hoodies, it's got me worried sick tbh.
Personally I just don't see the appeal, but I admit it is genius way for a car company to fleece people with more credit cards than sense.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Thanks. Are they more prone to theft then? Mmm, doesn't look good.0

They used to be stolen by hacking the keyless entry system, but even now they're as trendy, desirable and as proportionally overpriced as the latest iPhone, which is why I fear my folks are refusing to use their garage.
They're typically stolen to order and shipped overseas on container ships to the middle east and Africa.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I've not seen anything to suggest the Evoque is a frequently stolen vehicle and no evidence of it being stolen to order. Since they announced and ended production of the Defender there has been a sharp rise of them being stolen.0 -

I can't comment on what you have seen or not, I do recall they were a popular choice with thieves for whatever reasons, to be fair I don't notice many about.0 -
I test drove one that broke down on the test drive with some gear issue, suffice to say i didnt bother purchasing one.0

A friend of mine has a full size Range Rover and he now knows all the local AA men far too well. On the plus side he's got to try out a whole range of courtesy cars while his is being fixed."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0

We bought one last year and love it! No problems so far. In order to get insurance we had to fit a tracker but the one off cost reduced the cost of the premiums to a very low level.0

Having had to stand around a cold car park for 30 minutes because my niece's car wouldn't lock: I'd buy something else.
Was it a fault on the car, or was it someone trying jam the frequencies so they could help themselves? I don't know for sure, but she sold it soon after.0
