Thanks DIA. In my experience of being self employed there are many times when you put in the work and reap zero rewards. But I'll try and be more optimistic this time

If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

You should read Martin's guide on packaged bank accounts OBL, you never know. It tells which conditions might give you a reason to think it was missold. It doesn't hurt to read the guide.
We didn't have any paperwork for some of ours, but we claimed anyway hoping they could be traced from our name and address. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Try the revolver site that people have mentioned. I got mine back because I got full pay then half pay sick and didn't want ppi. They added it on anyway and I paid it for a year before i spotted it on the annual summary. I cancelled it then but all these years later i got it back plus interest so it was worth claiming. Dont let lack of paperwork put you off.

I don't mind private companies making profits, but when people can't afford to heat their homes and energy companies are making millions in profit it seems unfair. Also when people lose their homes due to not understanding the terms and conditions on their mortgage etc it seem immoral when the banks are making fat profits .
I can rant too .
Great rant, yup wish there wer more building societies still around, at least they were owned by those putting money in not taking money out.22: 3🏅 4⭐ 23: 5🏅 6 ⭐ 24 1🏅 2⭐ 25 🏅 🥈⭐ Never save something for a special occasion. Wow what a great productive day Hairy - it's now like a cliffhanger waiting to hear the results! Can I also say a massive thank you as your comments and those of other posters have made me look to see if my DH had any PPI. It led me to the Cap 1 website as I knew DH had a cc with them when we met. I filled in a simple form in their website yesterday & received an email today to say yes PPI was attached to that card! Now need to see if I can claim it and his previous mortgage. I have always been short of money so never took POI out apart from one card for a short time and received ,£30 a few years ago.
Will you be better off financially de registering for VAT or will it just save time?

We lack paperwork too for many of our claims. Without paperwork we're relying on the banks to be honest aren't we? How likely is that do you think? Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I'm really pleased you've been inspired to find something you can claim on and I really hope you get some mone back :T.
With de registering for vat I think we will be better off because we often pay late and get fined. So we'll save money on the fines. It's just another way for us to build up debts. Also I find it immensely stressful and DH can't cope with doing it. Plus our smaller customers will have cheaper bills as they can't claim vat back. We won't be able to claim back vat we've paid on business expenses but we hardly ever buy anything anyway. So overall I think we'd be better off de registering, especially with new regulations making it more complicated and making us buy new software.
