You are doing really well HHD. There is nothing that can't be sorted once he's up there, so don't worry if you forget anything. ....must admit that I have an oven glove but never seem to use it - tea towels for me as well!:D
It's many years ago since DD was at uni so recollecting things are a bit dim, but I do remember that the contents insurance is a must. I paid this for her - if I remember correctly it was through an insurer called Endsleigh who specialised in student insurance, although I'm sure the uni will have details on who to use these days. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Thanks SSG. I used Endsleigh for contents insurance when I was a student too (about 35 years ago!). We'll shop around for prices and see if that is still good value. It's funny that some of you don't use oven gloves. I used to be forever burning myself on the oven so I do use a very thick oven glove.
Well we managed to get DS3 a waterproof jacket (£59 reduced from £159) and a rucksack (£44 reduced from £88). We also managed to get him a new hoodie as he said he only has one he likes. He needs new jeans too but they didn't have his size, so he's going to order them online and try and get next day delivery.
I remember my mum buying me two new pairs of jeans, two new jumpers and some new shoes when I went to uni. I'm sure she bought me a lot of other stuff too, but I don't remember what it was.
We didn't have time to get DS3's kitchen stuff from tbe supermarket as I remembered I've arranged to meet an old friend for coffee at 4.30pm; I arranged it a couple of weeks ago. But we can go to the supermarket tomorrow instead. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Well done on the bargain clothes that you found for DS:T
I use old, past-it towels cut into smaller pieces for getting things out of the oven. I don't have asbestos hands:rotfl:. I sometimes use a folded tea towel but tend to get gravy or sauce on it if I'm taking the lid off a casserole for instance and those stains take a lot of getting out:(. My tea towels are mostly white in colour. They're really big, heavy-duty catering ones that I bought from a catering shop closing-down sale. I've had them for years but maybe when they wear out I'll get some dark-coloured ones.
I hope you enjoy your coffee with your friend. Always nice to catch up with friends:j
Good idea to make a list. I'm big on making lists, it really helps my memory just writing things down. I often go out shopping and leave the list at home though:o0 -

Tea-towels definitely, and he'll probably use them for cleaning the floor, as oven 'gloves', wiping pizza drips off the furniture etc etc. Don't expect them ever to look nice or even sanitary, but they will be amazingly useful !!0 -
You should not need contents insurance if he is in Uni halls.
It is included in the rent.
Honestly try not to worry as it will all be ok.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Thanks all. We'll be sure to get him plenty of tea towels! I am trying not to worry.
I enjoyed meeting my old friend for coffee and we had a lot of catching up to do as we haven't seen each other for years. Hopefully we'll be able to meet up again in a few weeks time. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
