  • I'm normally in bed by now on a Friday, but I'm feeling a bit psyched up from being at the hospital for five hours! So I'm having some cider to help me relax. How do doctors and nurses unwind? I'm glad I don't do shift work.

DS1 offered to cook dinner when we got home, which is really sweet of him :).

  • I'm glad to hear tests are being done and you will at least know. The prostate test (I assume they did a PSA test?) is also really important, particularly as gentlemen get older. There aren't necessarily any significant symptoms.

    Hope things go well xx
  • The lovely people on here are very good at making me feel less anxious :). DS2's hostel looks clean and respectable (judging by the photos) and there are lockable cupboards by every bed. It will be a good life experience for him (I keep telling myself).

You obviously have very happy memories of your travels Carboot :). I wish I'd done more travelling when I was young.

My mum had sleepless nights when DH and I did a parachute jump a few weeks before our wedding. I couldn't understand why she was worried at the time :rotfl:, but I'd be terrified if any of my DC did one

Thank you:). I can tell you're feeling better about your DS's trip and accommodation already:beer:

A parachute jump isn't something I'd ever be brave enough to do:o. Congratulations:j:beer:. I can understand your Mum being worried though, especially so near your wedding:eek:

I always wanted to take a hot air balloon trip but OH has a fear of them after reading reports of several accidents and fatalities and says he definitely wouldn't go with me:(. That's really why I've never done it but when I'm debt free I've promised myself that that's going to be my little reward ;). OH is normally really brave but I suppose we all have our idiosyncracies and phobias.
  • I'm so pleased that they didn't find anything amiss with DH at the hospital. It sounds as if they gave him a lot of attention and tests which is wonderful and very reassuring for you both. Even though it must have been a very gruelling and long few hours at least you should be able to sleep a bit easier now. I hope Monday's scan goes just as well:beer:

I keep trying to get OH to see his GP about a prostate cancer test. There was a lot on the news today about it overtaking breast cancer as the third most common form of cancer in UK now:eek:. OH says he doesn't want to waste the Doc's time and he'll think he's a hypochondriac as he has no obvious symptoms. He has a thyroid disorder and has to have 6-monthly blood tests and see his GP for monitoring of his medication anyway so he could just mention it on his next visit. Every time he goes I ask him if he mentioned it and of course the answer is always no:(. I think a lot of men find it an embarrassing condition to talk about.

I've started copying my diary into a Word file every day in case it gets deleted.

I get the daily emails, I'm going to keep them from now on!

A shame about jwil's diary :( another one I used to follow :(.

    I'm back :D
I've come on here to let off steam .

My dad just rang to check we were coming to their anniversary party (the one our children are not invited to ). He spent 15 minutes telling me about a family I've never met and a film they'd seen at the cinema.

Then he asked me how the children are. I said ok and was about to tell him about about what they'd been doing, but I never got a chance! He asked if DS2 had got his birthday card and money. I said I think so. He then said DS2 hadn't said thank you and it was naughty of him not to say thank you and to pass that message on to DS2. And then he said his meal was ready and he had to go! I was speechless:mad:.

I never got a chance to tell him that DS2 is going to New Orleans again next week, DS3 has four university offers and a job, and DS1 has changed his name by deed poll. But then would he really be interested?

I know that DS2 should say thank you, but he's 23. There's not much I can do about it and I don't want to jeopardise our delicate relationship by passing on a message like that :(.

Sorry, I had to get that out of my system :o.
    I'd be really cross too

Glad all was ok with DH.

Hope you have a good weekend.

I can't believe DS is off again to the US! Hope he has a great time, and congrats to other DS with his Uni offers! Is your other DS's new name anything unusual?

    Thank you Elizabeth :).

DH's doctor is going to do a prostate test next week because he was more worried about DH's other symptoms. DH wants a prostate check because his brother has stage 4 prostate cancer at the moment and had no symptoms :(.

DH's brother had no symptoms until it got to stage 4 prostate cancer, so it's a pity your OH won't ask for a test. Could you ring the doctor and ask him to give OH a prostate test next time he goes fof his check up?

    Men are terrible :(.

I did a balloon ride with my dad for his 80th birthday and it was amaxing :D. I wouldn't do it somewhere like Egypt, but in this country it is fairly safe as they won't go up if there is any wind.

Thanks jwil :). Not really an unusual name, just a name he felt was more 'him'. Whatever makes him happy, I guess.

  • Good morning

I was sorry to hear about your husband. Hopefully the tests done have put your minds at rest, at least for a little while. How is he today?

I's difficult to persuade men to take preventative medicine seriously. I think it might be the fear of getting older.

Hope you have a reasonable weekend

    Give my best to him

    Take care honey
