Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Hmm maybe midnight is the best time for ordering delivery slots Elizabeth 🙂.
Yes people with milkmen are laughing last now 🤣. To be honest I would have carried on with doorstep deliveries to support the milkman if I could have afforded to, but with five of us in the house and it being practically double the price, we were forced to cancel years ago. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I would have had the milkman delivery too since I retired and was no longer passing big supermarkets in the city where I worked. It would have been a lifeline in such a rural area (nearest tiny village store is over 4 miles away and they carry so little stock that they never had any semi skimmed left anyway, never mind in a period when people are panic buying! ). The next nearest shop is about 6 miles away so home deliveries by the supermarkets are brilliant. I think there was a milkman many years ago but I don't suppose the travelling distance and decreasing number of customers made it worth his while. Milk&More never delivered out our way. Being rural the supermarket deliverers don't come out our way some days even in normal circumstances but at the moment it's impossible finding a slot. Have tried so many times but will try Elizabeth's brilliant tip about trying around midnight and see how that goes. Otherwise, there's nothing whatsoever available at Morrisons, Asda or Sainsbury's for the next 3 weeks.
Sorry you didn't get everything you ordered, HHOD, but seems like you got a better percentage than I did from Asda last time. I foolishly opted for 'no substitutions' though so it was my own fault. I know from experience that we never like the stuff they send as replacements and I often refuse them on the doorstep but in these difficult times beggars can't be choosers and next time I'll opt for subs and take what I'm lucky enough to get! At least if items are more expensive it doesn't cost us the extra. I'm not really surprised you didn't get all the milk though as they are restricting it to possibly 4 per customer. I think some supermarkets make 2 the limit. I know yours was a mix of different types (skimmed, full fat etc) but maybe they just see it as 'milk' and think you've had your ration.
Good to hear you're feeling a bit better today. I think a lot of us are feeling a bit lethargic. It's that feeling of not being fully in control and able to just get on with our normal routine.6 -
Thanks Delichon
. They ration it at the online checkout so you can order 3 of each item at Mr T. Skimmed milk is seen as a different product from whole milk and therefore you're allowed to order 3 of each. It was availability rather than rationing that was the issue.

. Food has become a high value item so criminals are bound to want to cash in. I hope they get caught.
