I wouldn't expect a new tenant to keep your mail. Why should they. I expect that had their redirected.

If you require the mail being received then redirection isn't "unnecessary".

I have rarely re-directed my mail. However I have contacted all providers and ticked them all off the list. If they don't send it to the correct address I cannot be expected to receive it.

Once I had forgotton to change my delivery address on Amazon and it defaulted to an old address. My error. My parcel went there and I emailed the landlady who contacted the tenant and gave him my number.

He was very accommodating and we arranged for me to collect but I would only have done it the once. I was mortified that I had potentially put him out.

I would not expect anyone knocking on my door for mail after the 1st time.

When I purchased my home. The old owners ask politely if any mail came would I be so kind as to put it in envelopes supplied with stamps. I did this once a week as I passed a post box for a few months until the envelops ran out.

Then stop brothering people and live without your mail.

I don't want strange men knocking on my door when my wife and children are on their own. I would be polite first maybe second and explain.......after that I would have no more mail for you wink wink!

Money Saving is not the only aim though. And as I said, time is money. How many times are you planning to go round in 6 months? If you went once a month, that's £5 a trip, but is getting your mail once a month going to be worth it? Go once a week for your mail and that's £1.25 per trip...

Money Saving is about getting things for the 'best price' It doesn't mean doing things for free necessarily, especially when the time and effort could far outweigh just paying for a service.

You could do some name and address labels for your new address and ask the new tenant if they would stick new address label on any post and simply re-post.
You also need to add a stamp.

Your wife is, presumably, an adult and capable of telling people not to come in or whatever. Please don't infantilise her.

I purchased a house 2 months ago as a BTL.
I printed off a page of labels with a forwarding address and continued to forward them but after 2 months i was still receiving their bank statements & weekly pay slips from their employer so i have started to return them to sender as its obvious they haven't notified their bank or employer.

    I did try

The old owners of my house asked me to do this. I didn't mind for the first week or so but they were getting 4-6 pieces of mail per day and I had to go out my way to a post box. The final straw was when I had two notes through the door about missed deliveries. At that point I wrote them a polite note telling them any further post would be returned to sender for 2-3 months and then the rest would go in the bin. They must have set up redirection within a few days as the amount of post reduced considerably.

OP, you need to set up redirection. It's not fair to ask people to keep your post. Why should they have your post hanging around in their house waiting for you collect it? It's not fair to money save if you're inconveniencing other people
