  • Jesus, you expect people to wade through a tome of facts which are set out in a most un-user friendly fashion yet when a newcomer to the forum posts a question that is set out in a similar manner you choose to haul me over the coals rather than make a choice as to whether you wish to give me a leg up or ignore it.
I think I will pay up, it might be less painful!!

I parked my car in a private car park in Brighton
The Sussex Coast is my general area. Luckily, OneParking are easy enough to see off.
I had acted in good faith and I was confident that my appeal would be upheld.
How wrong I was. My appeal to POPLA has been rejected!

As it would be, because you can't win at POPLA like that.

But don't go paying up! DON'T!

The posters here are just frustrated that the Scumbag PPC has been handed the advantage, we hate to see that! We want to help you turn this around - luckily, a lot of the time, OneParking talk the talk (threat of court) but don't walk the walk.

And if they do try a small claim, we win over 99% of the time. One lost in over a year, just one, when well defended and assisted by this forum. If I am not working I'd show up to assist you at a hearing if you need it. I doubt it will come to that, One Parking send some daft threatograms usually. I am helping another poster with their trashy PCNs and she hasn't received court papers, but got lots of silly letters and she just checks in every so often to be sure she can ignore the trash, which she can.

And she has collected a few PCNs and a few letters, I can tell you!

But next time...next time...get it right and stuff the scumbags into the middle of next week with an appeal that would have left them no option but to cancel the scam.

Thank you so much for a genuine response. If I had been aware of this forum at the time I received the PCN, I most certainly would have acted in a different way. However, this was my first ever parking ticket in over 35 years of driving and unfortunately I wasn't aware of any alternative means of dealing with the situation other than to follow the procedure detailed on the correspondence received.
I will have to think about whether to dig my heels in and see what happens or cave in and pay just to avoid the hassle. My gut feeling is to tell them where to poke it.
Many thanks though for your encouragement.

I think you totally underestimate the amount of reading regulars have to do to offer scores of newbies the help they need. It's tedious in the extreme reading the same stuff, day after day, often trying to decipher ungrammatical input (not yours), yet knowing that ultimately, to help the individual to avoid paying his/her PCN, we will virtually have to type/retype huge chunks of (to be fair) the rubbish they write, in order for them to have any chance.

To simply ask for a few hits on the 'Return' key to create a few paragraphs to make our job (in helping you) just that little bit easier, is hardly a great ask.

I've not contributed previously to this thread because I just skip over walls of text and move on to the next poster's plea for help. There's just so many - day after day!

Help us and we'll more than help you. But it's a two-way street. :)
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Good! In fact, ignore their mutterings unless they try a small claim, and we WILL help! No risk, no CCJ, no worries even if a person loses, it isn't something that affects your credit as long as you don't miss any court direction or deadline.

This was my first ever parking ticket in over 35 years of driving

I've been driving around your area for the same time as you - maybe we went to school together! And it's not a real parking ticket, this is a scam one, so you still haven't had a Parking ticket.

Thanks, Brighton isn't my home town, I was there to babysit my granddaughter.

Andrew, what hassle are you expecting apart from a few silly letters did you not look at this:

One suggestion to avoid "fluttering ticket" syndrome is to invest in a small plastic clip which you attach to your windscreen with its sticky pad. You can pick them up on eBay for less than a fiver. I've had one for a couple of years now and it's still firmly in place.
