I have already acknowledged I made a silly mistake - the billing address was correct, the shipping address evidently was not. I know this. I am not trying to blame the retailer. But as Shaun says, the courier surely was at fault? They left a parcel with £1000 of goods in the garden. Whether I live at that address shouldn't really be the issue should it?[/QUOTE]

I think whether or not you live at the address you specified is precisely the issue! Otherwise you wouldn't be here.

You said in the OP that you "accidently" gave the wrong address and that the parcel was left in a "safe place". Now you are saying the address was "evidently" wrong and it was left in "the garden". How do you know it was left in the garden?

I don't think Shaun is saying the courier is at fault. He's saying it's the seller's problem.

I frequently sign for parcels for my neighbours. I know for a fact that my "signature" is completely illegible and I would not be able to recognise it myself.

Good luck with pursuing the seller as Shaun suggests, but I wonder whether their T&Cs include something along the lines of you providing the correct delivery address. Fairly basic I would have thought.
  • Well, obviously I did accidently give the wrong address. This is evidenced by the fact that it went to my old house. The tracking said 'safe place' but I lived there and there really is no other place it could have been left than the garden, Not really sure why all that matters but anyway...

I've just been in a state of panic about it and wanted to get some opinions and perhaps some reassurance. Deep down I know there's not much I can do but I was clutching at straws! Thanks to all those who replied (and to those who didn't judge :) )
  • You've agreed you've given the wrong address. I'm sure within the seller's T&Cs you need to give the correct delivery address. (Otherwise how does anything work!!!!???)

By the way, I'm not judging, but I think that any sensible person (obviously not you OP) would have made sure the delivery address was correct!
