  • Total spend yesterday was £0 so I now have £21.48. We usually have a few treats and a movie on a Friday so I will keep these to a minimum today. This should be my only spend for today.

  • Friday I had £21.48, spent a total of £6.30 which left me with £15.18.

Didn't spend anything other than nectar points yesterday so including today left me with £35.18. Desperately need food so put in an online delivery, total of £45.01 so tomorrow I will have 0.17. Should be a spend free day anyway so no problems there.

As suspected no spends today, have put the 17p in my savings to overpay the loan at the end of December.

Received my amazon voucher so I have ordered a Christmas present with it, I think I just have the one present left to get now!

I'm feeling extremely overwhelmed at the moment, I feel like I am failing at everything. I know I need to pull myself out of it but the realisation that you only truly ever have yourself to rely on has hit me over the last few days with some things that have been going on.

So instead of feeling sorry for myself and not doing anything about it I have sent a couple of emails to request some appointments for some help, firstly to request some one to one support with some uni work, I'm hoping this will be extremely beneficial and that I can start to use this on a more regular basis as I feel like I'm never going to succeed. Secondly I have filled in a form for counselling at uni to try and work through the issues I currently have with feeling so overwhelmed. I'm not sure if it will be any help or whether I just need to give myself a big kick but we shall see if they think they can offer some support once they have evaluated my form.

I know its not exactly debt related but its the only place I have to get it out at the moment.

  • Glad you have sent the email and requested some support. I hope they can help and quite quickly too so you can work through everything that you need to.

Thank you both. I don't think my finances really affect the way I'm feeling, I think there are a number of things building up though. I feel like I have lost a few friendships recently but then I'm not quite sure how good of a friendship they were in the first place. Then there is uni, I'm just questioning a lot of things lately. There is one huge thing that is really affecting me but I have absolutely no control over it and I really don't know what I should do for the best in that regard.

Another day with no spends so tomorrow I will have £20. I shouldn't have any spends until around Thursday/Friday.

Uni got back to me regarding counselling, they have given me an appointment for just under 2 weeks time so hopefully this will help turn things around for me. I also went to seek some support on a piece of work I have to do that I have been struggling with and got a little help so I am going to work on this tonight and tomorrow and hope that I start to understand things a bit better.

I have decided to set myself a challenge on the food front for the next 10 days or so, my freezer is completely full at the moment so I am going to work on emptying it. I really should only have to buy fresh things such as fruit/veg and milk and our Friday treats. Below is my freezer inventory:

[STRIKE]8[/STRIKE] 6 x cod in parsley sauce (They were a bargain at £2.50 for 4 last week so I couldn't not get them)
    Hash browns
    Pack of diced beef
2 x lamb shanks - one shank does the 2 of us for one meal
    mexican chicken breasts
    2 x 500g minced beef
    2 fishcakes
    2 chicken breasts

Other things that need to be used up
    Bacon
    eggs
    [STRIKE]Four[/STRIKE] 2 Potatoes
    Veg

Wow, that's 16 meals at the very least!

  • No spends again today. DS wants fish for dinner so 2 x fish used with veg and probably pasta. 1 potato used yesterday and will have one for lunch. Will use the other 2 on Friday to have egg and chips, so basic and yet so yummy and comforting.

  • You are really on top of this at the minute. Even meal planning. That's is fantastic.

I hope the counselling helps. Under two weeks for an appointment is great and fingers crossed for the work. x
