Yes, I truly believe that it is the best thing for me right now, I really wouldn't be ready for year 2 if I moved on to it in September.

Now just to rein in my spends, going to set myself a challenge of NSDs I think to try and help a little.

Hi Nicnak, I'm doing ok. Me and little one have had a very busy summer but it has been wonderful, I've felt so blessed having him over the last couple of months.

Should be around here a little more now that the school holidays are over and I really need to get my focus back, I am a little more into my overdraft than I had wanted to be but I'm not going to beat myself up over making precious memories with my small. My target debt free date of Dec 18 is still completely within reach but I am going to try and focus on getting a little more income coming in somehow.

Will post a full update soon once I have done a complete overhaul of my finances.

I've been MIA again, apologies for not getting back to you Nicnak, things have been a little crazy. I've been completely off track recently, not just with finances but with everything and I cannot seem to regain my focus.

I've decided this year that I am cutting down my Christmas list completely, usually I buy for around 21 people but I have cut this almost in half down to 11. I'm not sure if this is one of the reasons that I've struggled to stay within my usual budget for DS or whether its because he's been so absolutely wonderful recently and I just have the urge to spoil him.

I think my debt free date may end up being pushed back slightly with the overdraft, I think it will now likely be when I receive my next student finance payment which will be in January 2019 but I really need to sit down and plan it all out properly.

    I hope everyone is well.

I'm feeling in a bit of a mess at the moment and can just feel myself trying to ignore everything and hoping it will all go away, I know it won't. I had some financial issues a little while back which resulted in me taking out a loan. I still have some of the funds in my account but my MOT is due shortly and I know my car needs some work doing so I haven't overpaid the loan by too much until after that is done.

I feel like I'm going to be stuck in a circle of clearing off my debt but then something cropping up and putting me back there. I know I won't be but it just feels that way at the moment, I just need to build up an emergency fund so that this doesn't happen but its hard to do as a single parent.

I need to sit down and come up with a new plan to and get everything cleared although I don't think I am going to be able to make any difference to it until January. Thankfully Christmas is almost sorted, I think I have 3 presents left to buy and I am going to use a voucher from surveys for one of these.

My overall balance is in the black as I still have my money in my help to buy so its not all bad, I just need to break this circle.

  • You're here and that is breaking the cycle. You're making a plan, and you're trying to debt bust.

Having days like this is ok. Look at how far you have come and go back and look at your diary from the beginning. See how much you have managed to achieve. X

Thank you Nicnak, you're right, being here is breaking the cycle because it is making me focus on my finances which I haven't done for a few months and because we were doing quite well I probably lost my focus a little and spent a little more than I should have, that with the financial problems wasn't good. I definitely spent too much over half term but I always want to treat DS when he's off school because I don't feel like we get real quality time or time to do much together during term time.
