Persimmon New builds and TV points

Hi all

Just a quick question since I can't find the answer on google and persimmon are currently closed.

I'm buying a new build persimmon house, do they come with Ariel / TV points around the house? I understand there may not be an Ariel but if there are TV points then I can just put a dish on the side of the house and plug into the house existing TV cabling, if there's points!

Thanks

Each builder will spec slightly differently, but most will put one in the living room. You can then (depending what stage the build is at) opt to buy more.

The points are usually co-axial socket points for a digital aerial, not Sky points for 'dishes'.

    Two different things.

I suspect it will be different for different developers, but I'd be surprised to see Sky points when not everyone wants or has Sky.

I would suspect it would come with 1 of these in the lounge and a single outlet in the master

That's what mine had, it was a Taylor Wimpey build.
The ends where just left bundled in the loft ready to be connected up. Most of my neighbours have sky but they all seemed to have the wires tacked down the outside of the house with hole drilled through the wall. I just poked the Sat 1 and Sat 2 ends out the vent holes in the sofit and the sky guy connected up, no holes or unsightly cables tacked down the wall. I then run the sky box into the return feed which takes sky upto the single out let in the bedroom used with a magic eye, nice and simple setup

Not really two different things, cable is the same, just the end that differs and can easily be changed. (would expect a new build to be wired with double screened cable) You can also carry sat frequencies and UHF on the same cable simultaneously if it's good cable.

Thanks all, I get the keys a week Friday, so I'll let you all know what is there.

I've got Sky plugged into a coaxial socket in my current house at the moment, which was why I asked, I didn't realise that dishes where different, I thought they both used the same cable

Mine came with one aerial socket in the living room which was wired back to the loft but with no aerial on the end of it.

Also there are blanking plates for Virgin Media in the living room and master bedroom, but I haven’t investigated what kind of cable is behind them.

The face plate I posted would have 3 coax cables running back to loft if that's what has been fitted in the house. Sat 1/ Fm and tv on 1 cable, Sat 2 on the 2nd cable and return on the 3rd. You could then run a satalite dish a tv aerial and fm aerial into a triplexer which would combine the 3 signals and send it down to the face plate and then the faceplate splits out the signals at the bottom to feed the TV, Sat box, dab radio, ect.

Let us know what you have when you move in and I'm sure someone can advise on the best setup
  • I'm a different developer, Linden Homes. We have an aerial socket in the living and in the master bedroom... However, no aerial in the loft or roof. That is your job and cost (as we found out...)

When you viewed the detailed plans you should have been shown where every socket/connection etc is present in the house, we were shown this a few weeks before we moved in.

Yes I was shown the plans, but at the time didn't think about TV Ariel points, I probably noticed them but can't remember.

I'll let you all know when I get the keys, I should have a house demo before the moving in date, so will look then
